  • paul gilbert is my inspiration^^

  • He makes that style of guitar still feel fresh even though it's been done to death.

  • I have listened Demo 1 for more than 100times already.. best improvisation ever!

  • Shit im still stuck on the making the spicy ginger water ):

  • 1:39 Left is the other way Paul ;D

  • @djchonny Depends on the perspective...

  • Hehe love the surprised look at 5:27 =)

  • 1:15 I have not had food, I have not had sleep, I have not had sex.. OH wait... I am Paul Gilbert and I give guitars orgasms DAILY!

  • i bet he had the shits with all that ginger...!!!

  • The cat!!! IT'S ON THE SHELF AGAIN!!

  • he is missing the part of the brain that allows mistakes

  • he out-yngwied yngwie in one performance and he just out-seussed dr seuss in this!

  • One of the best of the best...)

  • Is it just me or does PG remind anyone else of Joel Hodgson from MST3K?

  • paul gilbert is the jesus of music

    \m/>.<\m/

  • i love how he is always still branching out and trying new things instead of just doing the same thing all the time.

  • Gilbert and bettencourth son los mejores guitarristas....att toniño

  • paul gilbert is the best, and always will be !!!

  • He gets better and better each time he breathes!

    He's a genious, so creative!

  • I see David Duchovny :)

  • Shit, is it me or I see Dio...

  • Nice to hear him playing some blues and not shredding so much....Amazing stuff.

  • i'm gonna start consuming ginger like a mofo

  • THE GINGER DRINK WORKS USE IT

(I haven't tried it yet but he's Paul Gilbert so I know he's not lying)

  • @DAVO360 hahaha

  • If anyone can truly be declared a master, it's Paul.

I don't actually understand how he's this good...

  • what a talent,

He should take care of himself.

If you hear the video without watching it , he sounds like a 70+ year old person.

  • @bababacardi He is mega healthy. He bikes, eats healthy, works out etcetc.

  • @bababacardi he just has a low voice, and probably partly lost his voice or something.

  • damn I wish he would record a piece with background music like demonstration #1 someday.

  • Comment removed

  • @FrancisArief yeah, hes super picky about the music he releases on his cd's. I believe its kinda repetitive, if you made it more interesting with the same kinda beat he would probably use it, for him tho its just a simple jam / practice track.

  • gilbert sucks at losing contests

  • I dont understand why there are so many comments saying his tone is bad or not right, His tone is fuking awesome ! difference of opinion i guess.

  • I LOVE his playing and his style, but I HATE his shitty tone! my god, did he get sucked into some kind of horrible deal? Man, Paul needs his own signature distortion pedal or something.

  • @ShadowLancer128 terrible tone ? do my ears deceive me this tone is classic rock tone awosme tone man cmon

  • @crisDAwog i dont know, maybe there's something wrong with my ears, but it sounds to me as if his guitar had a nose, and something or somebody was holding it shut. It sounds to me like somebody's trying to choke the guitar.

  • @ShadowLancer128 A majik box fuzz universe is his new distortion/fuzz/overdrive pedal its, like the jemini pedal its 2 pedals into 1. Check out "paul gilbert majik box"

theres a video of him showing it.

  • @andybanez its not his dist.i actually knew that a long time ago. It must be the pickups in combination with the body. His fireman is FAR superior to his pgm300 if you ask me.

  • @andybanez love the fireman ! i want ibanez to make a cheaper version of it !!

  • Best tone in the beginning

  • gentaro vs ohmura same bacing tracks

  • Those Dimarzios sounded divine..

  • Did anybody else notice the cat just sittin there starin at hm at about 3:32? :D

  • where's my pinky!!!

  • That tight lick @3:51-3:55 is a favorite of mine the way Paul plays it!!

I call it the Godzilla lick cause I first heard a close version of it in Blue Oyster Cult's "GODZILLA" ! Gotta LOVE PG % YouTube!!!!

Thanks for taking the time "FeelingShred"!!!!!!!!

  • I think the best thing about this guy is that u dont see him trying to play above his abilitys like u see most guys doing.

  • @Kyle072585 Maybe because PG's takes it to a new level by constantly improving even as he gets older...I see no limit to what PG can accomplish with his electric guitar!!!

  • Gotta be among the Best Guitarists of ALL time

  • I still dont know why people are waiting for the second coming of jesus....

  • @BananaRelapse Because every TRUE christain will be with Him in Heaven. Free from earth and every bit of crap that poisons it.

  • thankyou God for appearing

  • Alot of these backing tracks were used by young guitar in the past O,..,O

  • I just love the way he bites the strings.

  • I luv Paul's play'n cause he has real passion for guitar and a unique mastery to express what I can only follow with my ears cause my fingers can't keep up. He fullfills my guitar frustrations completely!

  • @feelingshred when you convert a file from 100 something kbs to 320, the other ~200 kbs dont just appear out of no-where. They are gone forever.

  • his volume knob is in such a unique position

  • need these backing tracks, and he made ginger ale without the carbonated part xD

  • Just wondering, if I bought this magazine would I be able to understand the lessons and stuff seeing as it's in Japanese!?

  • i like the cherry fireman better but the production one come pretty close

  • ibanez fireman.... an extremely rare nd almost 8000 dollar guitar.

  • wait whats ginger?? where can u find some :D :D

  • nice i believe i have his flanger that he uses airplane right?

  • his playing at around 3:40 sounds very satriani inspired.

  • @huyiy I agree

  • hey what kind of scale is he doing? i wanna do that really badly

  • E Minor pentatonic, i think

  • 3:30 => Takayoshi Ohmura and Gentaro Satomura jamed on this track

  • yeah you re right. the duel they re having ;p

    they re both excellent guitarists

  • o bagulho é alucinógeno....ducaralho...

  • \m/º,,º\m/

  • KITTY

  • haha he looks like a crackhead in this

  • 3:35 OSCAR!

  • f****** legend

  • 3:06 = insane!

  • i bought the new album fucking sweet

  • He's kinda like joe satriani in this album

  • Ginger water ._.?? lol best guitarist ever

  • Young guitar has used this same backing track on their vs. demonstrations... I don't remember which ones, but I think Takayoshi Ohmura was in one of the ones that used this track.

  • Best guitarist of our time

  • @SilentAce86 i think in terms of what he does there's no doubt, but if your into hybrid/fingerpicking i think tommy emmanuel is just the man. gilbert owns shredders tho. no doubt

  • @SilentAce86 true

  • it's a "Fireman. . . . . . . . .

  • His Iceman sounds great. And I come into line hi's an awsome guitar player

  • what is he using on 1.04?????

please some1 tell me i've seen it more than once but still dunno..

  • i think its loop pedal

  • it's his Flanger man...

  • its his signature airplane flanger pedal

  • I can has Oscar?

  • Paul is the greatest guitarist for several reasons, he plays everything, he knows everything, and hes one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, not arrogant at all, just enjoying the music, I sure hope hes immortal because if he's not i dont know someone who could take his place.

  • no one could take his place, but if he's not immortal, when he dies, he better resurrect himself. If the world lost this guitarist, we'd all be lost!

  • @Fendershred50 Don't forget he taught Buckethead.

  • @aurosne Buckethead?!! Buckethead isn't qualified to suck Gilly's d¡ck!!

  • Zakk wylde is nowhere near Paul. Paul can play zakk stuff, but i would pay to see zakk trying to play scarified

  • that may be one of the most offensive jokes i have ever heard...

  • wow the very beginning title was so cheesy it was funny

  • Gilbert has got a lote more tasty with his tone in his later days

  • he plays dota, deafening roar from invoker.

  • To me, this sounds a lot like the style of Blues Saraceno. Both are great guitarists, but Paul is my favorite. What a nice guy!

  • jesus christ

  • gilbert cannot be faulted in any way

  • See now, this is why the man is a legend. Unlike many of his peers he has soul, feeling, an individual style and genuine songwriting ability, but when he does full on shred he will knock you on your ass. Diversity, technical ability, tone, and a killer sense of humour, the man has it all. First time I saw that reverse Iceman style guitar I hated how it looked but now I fucking want one big time!

  • you know i think the vintage ada flanger sounds better than his signature :/

  • Definitely. The A/DA is the ultimate flanger IMO. Too bad they stopped making them, and the delay chips they use are discontinued too.

  • if i could meet any guitarist in the world it would be paul gilbert, cuz he is badass and not a cocky mothafacke and i wanna play like em >:(

  • The camera angles can get you dizzy :S

  • Any tabs of that great song ??

  • at 3.33, you can see his cat ^^

  • is that even a real cat?

  • If you look at 7:50 or so, there's no cat, so I doubt it's a statue that he moved when changing guitar. You never know though :]

  • yeah in his recent video, of airplane flanger he has his cat as a main character

  • "If there is any player i aspire to be, its Gilbert."

Maybe, technique-wise. But I have to say that he is not a that great songwriter. He is a good songwriter, but far from the best.

  • I'd aspire to be him for too reasons, personally -

    1. He's a fantastic guitarist,. His music isn't all exactly my thing, but i still find myself unable to stop watching his videos.

    2. Is it just me or is he the nicest person on the planet? He just seems so ridiculously friendly, and it's nice to see, especially on the shredding scene, where there are quite a few egos!

  • Absolutely, he seems like one of the nicest person ever, along with Satch. And he is a great guitarist, but not the best. I am now preparing myself for one million down thumbs :D

  • the solo at 30- 1.00 is so slash-esque lol

  • hey this is the backing track in syu vs gentaro and takayoshi vids. i love this

  • what songs at the end?

  • baltaco saturno....its my favorite song off the cd

  • Add a little scotch to the ginger drink and maybe some honey and you got the cure for a cold

  • was he sick when he did this?his voice sounds real rough.

i think this guy is just amazing and i think his sense if humor is great i`ll never forget the dinosaur fight he did at the end of 1 of his home vids was hilarious more power to him

  • Practice. Alot, burn muscle memory of shapes into your fingers, build your fingers with practice.

1000 times slow will give you the speed he has.

  • he is paul gilbert, i think you should heard more carfuly when he plays slow or fast kid =S

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, he sure sucks. Thats why he tours with G3, released many albums, and teaches guitar. I mean, its obvious.

  • at 19 he was already instructor in the guitar institute one year after he entered .

  • He has a lot of inflections, you know, slides, bends, and a rythymic awareness to his soloing style. Maybe if you listened a little more closely, you can see that he has a pretty unique style. He doesn't just do 3 note per string patterns, he employs a variety of techniques that make his playing sound anything BUT boring. You must be thinking of Shawn Lane, now that's boring.

  • Better technique does not always equate to songwriting(It's all subjective, btw). It's up to the player to discern what they want to write, obviously. He may have had better technique, but to me, it appealed more to guitarists, than the average listener.(Just my pov). I mean, how many average listeners know what a diminished chromatic run is? I'm not saying that's what Shawn Lane bases all his styles on, I'm sure he makes good music. I like alot of fusion myself, Frank Zappa, Weather Report, etc

  • O, and btw, it's nice to have a conversation here on YouTube without insults. :)

I looked at your favorites(sorry to lurk), and I see we have a lot of the same taste. That's also cool.

  • Paul is the Leonardo Da Vinci of the Electric Guitar.

  • ma che cazzo dici

  • If there is any player i aspire to be, its Gilbert.

ive been working on his style for a year and i still cant do it lol......:(

  • Maybe you should only use upstrokes and 3 fingers?

  • was that a burn towards paul

  • Nope, Paul started guitar using only upstrokes and 2 fingers on his left hand (3 fingers was a typo)

Pretty amazing to turn into what he is now.

  • he's wailing on F minor pentatonic hehe

  • paul gilbert it the reason i kept on playing guitar i was about to give u untilthe 1st time i herd him play

  • He is the only one in the world.

He's my inspiration to play my guitar.

    The best ever.

  • yOU AND ME BOTH MAN. Love paul gilbert the best.

  • paul gilbert is the source

  • the source

    lol

  • Simply amazing!!

  • oh man. paul has the most amazing tone. i wish i could just box it up and take it home....

  • i love paul g!

    hes amaaazing!

i wish i was as good as him ^_^

  • spicy ginger water!!!!

    it is the key!!

  • really hearing a jimmy page influence here, anyone else?

  • I love how people down rated you, I mean Jimmy Page is great and I bet Paul loves him. Maybe these losers never heard of Led Zeppelin.

  • 6 Thumbs down? Fucking hell... I was paying him a great compliment... What's wrong with that? Good to see some can see it though.

  • This is the same backtrack that Gentaro Satomura used in his Neo Classical Sweep song. Paul Gilbert is much better though.

  • In our family we use that ginger drink with some scotch whenever we have a cold or a sore throat. it works wonders, and tastes good too!

  • Somebody give Paul a freaking sandwich.

  • Whats the very first riff?

  • Bultaco Saturno.

  • yay the ibanez firemans out now

  • 1:16 - my sentiments exactly =)

  • Wow he really sounds like he needs some sleep

  • He is so wacky and cool.

  • What happened to his voice ? He sounds weird, like he's sick or something and its a strain for him just to talk.

  • probably just out of his ginger drink he talked about lol

  • Anyway....Paul Gilbert, I don't like your Marshall tone hahahahha

    I'm serious

Laney! Save your reputation and call Pablo Gilberto back with a huge deal hahahaa

  • whats the very first thing he plays..? XD.. id like to learn that

  • It's one of his songs from the album "Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar", called "Bultaco Saturno".

If you like this check out the "Get Up" album by Richie Kotzen. It has very funky riffs like this one.

  • thank you! will do

  • Kotzen is one scary musician

went to a clinic back in the early 90s and he was just playing all sorts of music styles.

jammed with him and his phrasing was so amazing.

  • At the beginning of the video he explains all about his guitars.

There's a Ibanez custom "Reverse Iceman" and a PGM with single coils.

Paul, why did you change to Marshall? Just love your Laney tone :(

  • Looks like a reverse Iceman.

  • hes high

  • godly tone!
