New Winnipeg Terminal: An Intermodal Airport City

Open in 2010...um....like WHEN?! Anyhow, I wounder what will the old airport be for? Will it be for the smaller flights, or for any still?

I was in winnipeg 3 times, the last one in 2007, and the new airport seems great, but, to big to the actual and near future, traffic.

With no new air links this will be a true white elephant (i really hope not). I hope that some links dct to Europe could be created and save one or two links when i fly to Winnipeg!

Actually Winnipeg has a link to Europe, it is called Iceland Express Airlines, and it is returning to YWG for the 2nd summer season.

Also the current terminal building was built for 350,000 passengers per year, the new terminal is built for 5 million per year. It certainly is not too large in size for the traffic durrently using YWG. Seeing it is now processing nearly 5 million passengers per year.

This super terminal means Winnipeg JAR will have capacity and capability for 21st century transporation. However, if it cannot attract airlines to directly link to European and more USA destinations,then it will be a prairie afterthought and a second class citizen. Have additional routes been sheduled for when the construction is complete? The danger is that the halls will echo, and millions of people will have paid for a white elephant. Are there new routes scheduled yet?

i think winnipegs new airport is almost a scaled down pearson int'l!? it looks great i just flew from toronto to winnipeg and when i saw winnipegs new airport i thought it looked alot like pearson:)

It is very cool that people envision great things for Winnipeg, and the idea of turning Winnipeg back into a meeting point for all of North America is awesome. It's unfortunate that air travel creates a lot of pollution.

Oh yeah, been in Winnipeg recently! The new airport looks great! I just hope it doesn't make Winnipeg like Toronto or something similar because I like it the way it is - small-mid city with great atmosphere. Go Winnipeg!!!
