Unboxing the Samsung VP-D371W Mini DV Camcorder

Hello. I just bought this camera online and im worried that i've made a mistake. I now see that it isn't USB compatible! Someone said that I have to buy some card thing that I have to put inside my computer?! Sounds way complicated. But then, i see that you say you just bought an IEEE 1394 FIREWIRE cable to transfer vids from your cam to the PC. Do I need the wire you mention aswell as the firewire card thing?! grrr...Wish id researched more before clicking the 'buy now' button on Ebay!! lol

did this camera come with a DRIVER cd, as i can not get my windows xp to understand the firewire connection --- 61883 class bus device !

@opelcambo Hey. Did you find a driver for it? I've got my firewire cable now and the card, and the PC appears to be able to see the camera, but just a blank grey screen appears when i double click on the samsung camera symbol!!? Cant find a driver anywhere (assuming thats what i need to get)

Oh,nice.Yeah it's pretty good for its price.Good quality.But the color sucks when you point it at something blue,green or red.And sometimes even white.But when shooting outside and in a bright day,the quality is super.About the firewire things,you know what dude?I just bought an IEEE 1394 firewire cable and use it to transfer my videos onto the computer so I then can edit them in my editing software.

kkl1975, this looks the same as the VP-D381 so i am assuming they are the same in terms of connections, design looks nearly exact. So, i am assuming this uses a firewire like the D381. Firewire does the same job as a usb, one connection lead, its just they look different and i THINK they have different connections speeds. basically how it works. same as usb, different connection and upload times and it looks different.

good video, havent got a chance to watch it all right now so im gonna cut to the chase. with this camcorder can you hook it up to your pc to edit videos and upload and what not? I didnt see a usb cable thats why i ask, and i am looking at getting a camcorder, possibly this one. :)

Well it's pretty good.The White Balance suck.But the zoom is great and the sound is pretty good.But if your looking for a camcorder for let's say film Green Screen,then this one is really not the one for you.When you point at a pink color it makes blue.Anyway,this camera is pretty good.

Sometimes it has worked through Movie maker and others hasn't, comes up the device is in use when it isn't.

If it does, if I had it hooked up to an external harddrive via firewire and then the external harddrive connected to my PC via usb...would my PC be able to access the files? If your question is IF you can look trough the weivfinder then the answer is yes.But this camera doesnt have night shot mode or anything like that.

I want to use it to shoot videos at night. And i also want the camera to be somehow in "stealth" mode, ie. no light from the cam, lcd screen closed, just looking through viewfinder and recording. Is that possible with this cam?

i have had at least 6 different cameras in my life, and it has been the most relliable

only one problem i have EVER had in the whole

(i think) 9 months, is that it chewed opne of my tapes...but that was down to the door not been installed properly
