I was there front row at Minglewood! If you could call it front row. There were no seats. But it was a good concert. I couldn't really appreciate the new stuff they played because it was kind of loud. I didn't like it at first. Now that I've listened to the album, it's really good.

@JaMaph Honestly, I really don't think they recreated their sound for the Congratulations album. It seems as though they went back to their original sound. If anything, Oracular Spectacular was them recreating themselves. I don't think they were going for what was a "smart career move" with this. Its just them doing what they want. I personally love the new album. But i can see it not being for everyone.

Have you ever seen them live? The videos are usually terrible, but if you're there, and you experience, you will feel infinite. I saw them, here at Minglewood Hall in Memphis, actually. It was one of the best experiences of my life, but looking at the videos, it didn't seem like anything special.

uhh....MGMT is great, but empire of the sun is good too. Too be fair, Luke Steele has been doing his "thang" for a while. I see how people could not be way into EOTS, but do check out his other band Sleepy Jackson. Their album "Personality" is one of my favorites. Kind of surfy, psychadelic, shoegaze, type stuff. really great. listen to the album through though.

Empire of the Sun is the most horrendous bullshit I've ever heard in my fucking life. Easily the worst band I've ever heard. Someone recommended them to me and within 30 seconds I was genuinely embarrassed that I was still listening. I've never seen a band more lacking in authenticity in my life. I seriously would not have been surprised to find out that they were actually a viral marketing campaign for a new energy drink or something. Clearly a contrived, corporate attempt to cash in on MGMT.

Ok. I love MGMT. I love every song on Oracular, and I really like this song too. If every song on Congradulations was like this, I would enjoy it. And I understand this is more of what MGMT wants to do and make. But this is not the MGMT that I and many others fell in love with. Their keyboard and synth riffs are what made them so unique and great. This is good, but this is not what made MGMT one of my favorite bands. I hope some songs on the new album will be like their last, best EP in my life.

As you said, this isn't the MGMT people fell in love with, but I believe that this is the "real" MGMT since it sounds very 60's. And many of the their influences are bands from the 60's.. But who knows. I think this track is pretty good, but nothing all too special.

But as you said, it would be awesome if they had some tracks that sounded like the ones from OS.
