Really enjoyed that - excellent vid grayuknow, thanks for posting it.
I've been using these ferries for the past 20 years, right back to thedays of the Norland and Norstar
.I often fly to Holland these days, but the sea crossing (especially when it's a bit rough) always seems a bit more special - a bit more of an adventure even!
Next crossing at the end of November - can't wait.
You'll be safe as houses on these ships as they make the crossing to the continent every night and are designed to withstand anything the North Sea can throw at them. Mind you if it gets too rough you might not though lol. I once did a crossing in a Force 10 and I'm afraid it was back to the cabin and bunk time lol

I agree about them not been in the best condition inside anymore! Last time i sailed on the Pride of Rotterdam i was disappointed with her condition inside. How ever the Pride of Rotterdam was in for refit last winter 09/10 so she should have been refurbed.
How did you get there, is there a ay i or did you ask ,or did you get a plane and parachute in hoping no one would notice i am onabout thefirst bit whre you are rigt next to it
There is a path that is between the ship and the terminal and it leads right past the ship. It is called the Viking Way trail and you can leave your car in a small carpark nearby on the edge of the river and you will see the ship, then you can take a walk along the path over a steel bridge. You can also walk down to the lock gates and watch the Pride of York/Brugge pass through. It is really nice to go down there on a summers night and feel the buzz just before the ship leaves.
Thank you, bad thing is i live near Preston but i will make sure i get there. Cant Beleive i didnt know that. And where does the path start, just so we dont drive around, or is it a car park, where is the cark park.
i meant to ask, are youallowed in there and where abouts does it start do you have to go in where you usually go when you go on he boat but turn off somewhere else
No not the exterior, I mean the interiors are very dirty. Unclean cabins and run down carpets everywhere on the ship. And that have nothing to do with the sea. And AL to do with good minuteness (or the lack of it)
BTW replacing in 5 years they are only 7 years old. So they could run at least another 12 to 15 years fore NSF.
Yes I agree both ships were in excellent condition when new and although they are tidy on the inside they do look a bit worn with cigarette burns in carpets etc. I wouldn't want to be a cleaner on these ships because the party people can't hold their drink and are of course sick etc by the next morning. Over the years P&O have cut back staff on the ships and of course the ones that are left only have a quick turn around time to get the ship ready for the next crossing.
I have to say I have nothing but respect for the crews of these ships that make the nightly trip from Hull to Zeebrugge and Europort in all weathers and conditions. Glad you enjoyed your bridge visit
