Lol, top 2 tanks have performed poorly in urban warfare, the place where tanks are least effective. No Japanese tanks were ever used in combat since WW2 and the Leopard 2 has never seen combat as well. No Russian armor was present with and nobody considered that the T-90 is the MBT with best performance in Urban environment stated by many sources on the internet, with none destroyed so far. You can also put the French AMX-40 and the Brazilian ET Ozorio to avoid being biased.

Le Leclerc est en service au Liban, et des Leclerc émiratis ont été déployés au Kosovo. Bon c'est pas du combat de haute intensité mais ca vaut toujours mieux que le Type 90 qui n'a jamais connu que les terrains d'entrainement (à ce compte là les seuls tank "combat proven" occidentaux sont l'Abrams US et le Challenger britannique, plus le Merkava israélien).

Your taking things out of context here. CR2 is much better armoured for urban combat. This is the only reason why it hasn't had any losses. When up-armoured CR2's are weighing in over 75,000KG it is more than "a little better in protection". You also forget the fact CR2 is the most heavily armoured tank in NATO.

The CR2 is better for killing other tanks. But the abrams is the king of urban combat. Because it has faster turret rotation, faster acceleration, higher top speed, a wider variety of ammunition, and more machine guns (two of which can be controlled from inside the tank). The CR2 is a work of art. it's not much of an urban warrior but it is unmatched in long range ingagements and protection.

Not many abrams have been destroyed by IEDs. The only ones that got destroyed by IEDs were hit by 230 kilogram penetrator IEDs. No vehicle could withstand that. And the RPG7s can get mobility kills on abrams but not actualy destroy them. Because of its overall quick performance and insane amount of firepower, it is absolutely the best for urban combat. I have served in the British army in the RDG with CR2 from 03 to 07. CR2 was hit with a RPG29 nearly 3 years ago, and it didn't destroy the tank. The RPG penatrated throufgh the belly and amputated the drivers toes. RPG7 can penatrate Abrams side and rear armour...That is why most Abrams know use urban armour kits. Some Abrams have been KOd by Iraqi 14.7mm fire that has set fire to the auxillary generator which then has gone on to burn the entire tank out. CR2 has never been lost to enemy fire.

Good point. I know that the CR2 has the finest armor in the world. RPG7 could get a mobility kill on abrams but those urban armor kits are purely to defend against shaped charge IEDs. On the M1A1 abrams, The auxliery power genreator is in an awkward and vulnerable place. It was moved in the M1A2 design so it will not likely happen again. And the crew of that tank survived. Also, the challenger fleet has not experienced the same amount of punishment and urban combat as the abrams.

The fact is is that all of these tanks have just about equal stats and i wouldnt mind being in any of them. However the Abrams has one very important advantage and that is quantity. The USA has about 5300 active abrams tanks while the germans only have about 400 leopard 2A6 tanks. and the brittish only have around 370 challenger 2's The germans learned in WWII the quantity is better than quality. The Leo2 is in combat everyday for almost two years now. The canadians been using them since Dec 2006. We had 2 hit so far with massive ied's with no kills, and one driver suffered a broken hip. How many Soliders were killed in the M1A2? Besides the Leo1 still can out perform an M1A2 to this day. Happens every year when up against the canadians. Canada still uses the Leo1 for training and war games when in North America.

We retired the M-109 in 2002. The M-109 is a self propelled howitzer.

There was some testing done and it has been discovered that a Abram using urianium tipped projectiles can go through the front armor of a T90. If you read up on the T90, you'll know that it was designed to be cheap. Russia knows its not the best, but they have had budget issues.

if u fire the m1a1 abrams tank's main round with a rifled gun, the gun would expload. The round spins and is only slightly less accurate than the challenger's round. Besides, a smoothbore gives it more power.

I don't think it is. i believe the Leopard 2 is the best tank. If you read why it is not higher up there..you will understand. the Leo 2 has consistently outperformed other tanks including the Abrams, the Challenger, the Merkava and the Leclerc in several competitions and tests.

I think the abrams probably is the best because obviously it has taking the worst shit ever. the IEDs it has been up against and the RPGs hitting the back. Urban is not a good place for tanks. Any tank. so with the TUSK or Tank urban survival kit. the survivabilty will go stright up. Its hard to compare tanks that have been in combat and the ones that havent. especialy the abrams because what it has had to deal with.

Your putting Challengers and Leopards against a tank that was solely meant to destroy the same tanks that the Challengers and Leopards were meant to take out, T-90's. Hardly any of the tanks you provided have really seen any war, only small arms combat. Abrams have seen full scale wars in which we demolished the world's 3rd. largest armor regiment in less than 100 hours. Put any tank crew into our Abrams tank and put our crew into your tank such as a Challenger or Leopard, we would still win.
