In the manual of all PS3 ( No matter what system you are using ) IT IS CLEARLY WRITTEN :

"Vents

When dust accumulates in the system vents, remove the dust with a low-powered

vacuum cleaner"

Try looking at your manual, if you loose yours go check on playstation . com and search for manual...

Ps3s have an amazing built in fan. As long as you don't run them in an enclosed area. They won't over heat. Unless they're 5+ yrs old

If you do this when your ps3 over heats like hell, I wouldnt do it cuz youll OBVIOUSLY burn your CPU. So dont do It. Even if you do it after 8 hours, it'll still do it. OPEN IT AND CLEAN IT INSTEAD.

Nice video, although this will not clean your PS3, I actually uploaded a video recently with pictures of the inside of a 3 year old PS3, there is a huge amount of dust! Believe me, you need to follow some steps to help it, anyone with a PS3 Slim is very lucky, seeing as that barely moves any air in and out the system, in turn keeping internal dust levels to a minimum.

U can either fry out your ps3 CPU or just use a Hoover set to a low vacuum it's cheaper then buying a new ps3 and it gets rid of your dust and btw the eject feature is used for Sony to test out the fans but it can also be used to eject a disc stuck inside a ps3 which had the YLOD

Its not a "feature" its called the Fan Test for a reason. the Fans are spun at maximum RPM's at the factory BEFORE the Graphics chip is intsalled, to check if they are at proper working order. Some one found out how it was done internally and posted about it, thus harming ALOT of Ps3's. Hence, its not a "feature" it was a componet check factory side.

The comment above perfectly explains why it's in there. It's not a "feature". If it was they would have mentioned it in the owner's manual. I spoke to someone at Sony and they said you should NEVER do this fan test. They do it from the factory before all the other components are installed just to test the fans. This will burn that bitch up.
