Man, I wish the Wings could've brought Kozzie back at some point. The guy was clutch in the playoffs, especially in 95. That year was so fun to watch because it was the first time the Wings had real playoff success in years (until they met the Devils...). I remember Yzerman almost seemed like he didn't know what to when presented with the Campbell Conference Trophy. I think he wound up lifting it over his head celebrating, and then taking it back to the lockerroom.
@FloydRobertson - I'm not rating the game low, quite the contrary. However, from a Red Wings fan's perspective, this game/goal seemingly always gets put behind Yzerman's 2OT vs STL in 96, McCarty's Finals goal vs PHI in 97, the AVs/Wings brawl in 97, & Larionov's 3OT Finals goal vs CAR in 02.
I think it gets somewhat overlooked b/c the Wings went on to get swept by the Devils in the Finals 95.
@freak3896 Gotcha, and that's a good point about Kozlov's goal being largely forgotten by fans. I never thought about it, but you're right, no on ever mentions it.
@freak3896 i know right, people aren't probably remember Darren Helm's game winning goal vs. Chicago back in 2009 because we lost to Pittsburgh in the finals
@FloydRobertson I'm a big wings fan and have been looking for this game for a long time because i don't understand why this gets overlooked also. maybe it's because slava kozlov scored it, and he was an unsung hero for that team? i mean everyone was excited because they hadn't been to the finals in so long.
It's overlooked because of the insane good fortune we've all had in watching our team win 4 Cups since this goal. If the Wings never managed to break through and win Cups we would all still be talking about that goal. It would be akin to the Maggs HR in the 06 ALCS.
The Wings run of 4 Stanley Cups since 1997 has been amazing and once it's over it will likely never happen again.
Red Wings fans should feel fortunate because this has been a rare and special run.
@freak3896 Who rated this game low? ;) This is one of the greatest series of all time, IMHO. Even I was a Hawks fan, I think it would be possible to look past the disappointment and realize how exciting this series was and how great it was for hockey.

This game is sooo underrated. This was a great game. Belfour's save at 3:53 does not get any better.
