When I buy my house one of the first projects will be rain catch but you're right. Proximity to water is going to be one of the things I look for. While I'm saving up for it I'll be shopping and refining the list of what features I want the property to have.
@jknacasual yeah i heard y'all got quite a lot too...good thing about mountians is the water goes down fast...bad thing is water goes down fast!...sure makes you appreciate the words "flash floods"...here the water is slower to recede..typically..but this time people are saying "everything was fine and 15 minutes later water was coming in the door!"
Keep stuff like this in mind whenever you are in the market for a house or property. I plan to buy a house within about 2 years and I'm darn sure going to make sure it's above the level of any possible flood that wouldn't completely destroy civilization.
@vention4wh i agree but you want to be close enough to a creek/spring or stream that you could tote water for toilets and bathing if necessarry...you never know when you will be without public water for days or weeks...not having electricity is far better than not having water...
@wmesser5 at this point im hoping we dont get any wind..the ground is so wet that trees are just falling over...i dont even want to think about an earthquake
its amazing to see this..i took my kids out yesterday once it became safe so they could see this once in a life time event...i doubt we will ever see this again (I HOPE) no one has ever seen it before.
@centervilletn Yeah, that is what the government said to us when it flooded, once in 100 years, then it did it again...oh... the 500 year flood. Then it did it again. They were silent about it, it floods all the time now.
@ZullGostnu2 ive lived here most of my life...my father is 64 and he has never seen anything like this..and my Great Uncle is 89 live here all his life and has never seen or heard stories about anything like this..but you are right...it seems we keep getting these "historic" events...locus in Austrailia, Earthquakes all over the world, volcanos in iceland and floods...feeling a bit "biblical" to me
@ZullGostnu2 My wife is an agriculture engineer specializing in hydrologic modeling. From our conversations, it seems clear to me the government hasn't a clue what it is talking about. Too many waterways in the Eastern U.S. have been modified by the Army Corp of Engineers, the TVA, and farmers. Historical data is less and less useful.
@centervilletn And the farmers would do the right thing if we educated them because they want their children to be able to farm the land too. Instead of educating them, we regulate and fine the farmers. Brilliant!
its messy here but as far as i know no one in the county has died ...we are pretty used to taking care of ourselves and folks here dont do too many stupid things...usually...

The bible says it will continue to intensify as things get closer to the end.
