  • what season was dorn?

  • I said it before and i'll say it again.....Q needed more episodes in DS9 :(

  • I'm not done watching Voyager yet... so as of now DS9 is STILL my favorite Star Trek series :P

  • wonderful melody ..love it! ....sounds like a hope and new beginning together

  • does anyone the the brass instrument??? is it the trumpet?

  • @505BANKMONEY I am fairly certain that it is a horn.

  • @DougRumbaugh just a horn or a certain kind of horn? im into music production and i need that instrument or one exactly like it

  • sure wish they would have a movie of this show .

  • best series

  • I'll get the heat from the TNG fans but I'll say it: DS9 was the best Trek series.

  • @tonchibear it was my first star trek!

  • @tonchibear Agreed.

  • i love that station

  • Sisko is a real soldier, they don't die, they just go missing in action.

  • Majestic sound

  • This, Voyager and Archer's theme aremy 3 most fav Star Trek theme's. Why? Because it's not all pompous and arrogant sounding like TNG! Like "Oooo look at us we're so badass and cool in our fancy starships!"

    I hate that crap.

  • I always loved playing this on synthesizer SO much!

  • Can anyone please tell me what season that is from.

I agree it is not as good as Voyagers but it is a hell of an improvement from the horrendous crap used in the first three seasons.

  • DS9 Beste Star Trek Serie ever, Erwachsen, Ambivalent, Gute Charakterentwicklung, langer Handlungsfaden.

  • 1.TNG

    2.DS9

    3.Voyager

    4.Orig series

    5.The other one

  • @farrell360 Same for me *brofist*

  • the ship looks like the voyager from them or is it just normal intrepid class =?

  • Quark kicks ass! I used to work with a RN that could have been his sister.

  • This is where the Kardashians originated, and spread from to invade the media of Earth! Before they morphed into average dumpy looking white chicks they were a butt-ugly race of reptilian looking creatures that ate fish soup, and spelled their name "Cardassian".

I TOLD y'all they were aliens!!

  • Home sweet Home

  • Voyager is better because it is different where as most if the other star treks are just the enterprise looking abit different. I mean imagine if voyager was called the same but had the enterprise instead

  • Janeway was the best what's wrong with her

  • Oh god, fanrage again. I don't know how often I've written this: Everyone is allowed to have a own opinion, just maybe explain it, and the others should accept it. I personally like TNG the most with DS9 close behind, and I didn't like Voyager that much because of Janeway. I liked ENT too, although it had the worst intro. And Voyager has most certainly the best

  • The least of all the Star Treks

  • no orchestra theme song: the first sign that Enterprise was doomed from the start.

I called that shit the moment it started.

  • voyager and DS9 are my favourite series :) shame they never had the borg in DS9 though

  • I've never been much of a Star Trek fan, and only ever caught the odd episode growing up, but I've still always been able to hum every theme note-for-note. They're all sso impactful. Especially the Voyager theme in my opinion.

  • I LOVE DS9

  • Does anyone know where someone might get the sheet music for this

  • I can only inagine how good this would look in 3D.

  • Like this if Glee brought you here!

  • wow

  • The best star trek show ever. And the best theme on any star trek show

  • @mikethehammertackett Couldn't agree more. I'm going through them all again via NetFlix, and loving every minute of it. I enjoy Voyager and TNG, but this one is the one that really gets me on the edge of my seat.

  • I bet this rap crap people are listening to now a days don't give you that beautiful feeling!

  • Definitely one of the most beautiful themes ever written in my opinion.

  • This is 4-7

some episodes of Voyager werent TOO bad, some episode are really good.

DS9 has the best theme though, the seasons 1-3 theme matches voyager in majestic quality.

  • Why can't we have television like this any more?

  • ME TOO

  • never miss Star Trek again - allstepisodes ITS AMAZING !!!!!

  • I just can't state the awesomness. There would be too little room in the comment bar to do so, so instead i'm going to use one of the most over-used comment types on YouTube.

    9 people were Dominion.

  • I concur with the goose-bumps. This tune always has done. I hate to admit that I used to watch the programme primarily to hear the theme. The tune just does not go where you expect it to go. Unbelievable. Thank you stuniverse.

  • I'm so pissed off. They just got rid of DS9 on my local sci-fi channel, and it's not playing anywhere else, but I think it's shown me something; After obssesing over it countlessly, i'm positive it's become my favorite, even though I am in love with the the other series' too.

  • First Star Trek series I ever watched...a kid...with my mom. Great series.

  • Deep Space Nine rocked. It was an awesome character piece and Commander Sisko was the best Star Trek leader in the series.

  • Great theme!!

  • Is it just me who sometimes forgets about DS9? Like someone asks me the line up of my favorite Star Trek shows and I got though the others and they are like What about DS9 and i am like What? lol I just forget about it sometimes

  • @MrClone501st

It's probably the most under the radar Star Trek show.

It started in TNG's shadow, also ran when TNG was having it's first movie, then there was a ton of promotion for Voyager, and DS9 had competition and didn't get advertised too much and it being set on a space station turned off some people.

Having said that seems like some people consider it boring and forgettable and some people consider it the best Star Trek show, some of it is a lot better than others.

  • I love this theme, but the background bass and percussion beat has me confused. It doesn't seem to sync up with any other part of the music. I almost feel it would sound out of place if it wasn't so subdued (I only noticed it was there recently).

  • i don't know why but i find this music quite emotional, makes me wanna cry... i wish i could...

  • Great theme, TNG, DS9 and VOY all had great themes. Enterprise was the only lousy one!

  • @dastaylor My first thought when I heard it was "Why is Rod Stewart singing?"

  • Dull, stagnant, and a poor attempt at recreating the magic of TNG: the perfect theme for DS9.

  • @JohnnyC133

I like it. You have to admit it's still better than the the theme they "chose" (as opposed to custom made) for Star Trek: Enterprise.

  • @Ferrsai Yeah, I'll agree with you there.

  • Notice how there are just a lot of pan and zooms on the station. It's not that easy making a stationary object as glorious as a star ship. Still, epic intro!

  • nah..this is good.. but voyager takes the cake on best theme song...

  • This theme song brings a tear to my eye. It helps to remind me who I am as a person in this life. good theme song. It also reminds me of my early childhood days when I use to watch star trek up late.

  • visually voyager has the best theme, but to the ear, this hands down, is the best star trek theme.

    long live ds9

  • DEEP

  • Comment removed

  • Good, but not nearly as moving and majestic as the Voyager theme.

  • @TheTypicalGirl

You know, I think the Voyager theme is all grand and epic and moving and such just as much as the next guy, but I am conflicted. The DS9 theme just sounds kind of mythic and timeless, reminds you that the story goes back thousands of years, and DS9 is where all their lives meet and they go through all this.

    Hmmm

  • @TheTypicalGirl True, but DS9 episodes were 10x better than the crap Voyager spewed out.

  • @TheTypicalGirl Respectfully, in my opinion this is superior to Voyager's theme

  • @NevadaWrangler I'm not sure if the start trek themes can easily be compared honestly. Definite extreme similarities, but this piece sounds more like the intention is to sound deep and big, it's also more "grounded," as we start with a single note, eventually joined with others. In a way more militaristic too with the 5th and 4th counterpuntal intervals of the trumpets in the middle. Voyager is whimsical, less grounded, more "fluttery" and majestic. Both I think are in general equal in quality.

  • @TheTypicalGirl I hope you mentioned Voyager purely because both of these themes are miles behind TNG's?

  • @TheTypicalGirl I respectfully disagree, I love this theme :'(

  • @TheTypicalGirl : strongly disagreed - the VOY theme is good, but it doesn't build up to the epic climax of this one.

  • @TheTypicalGirl because Jerry Goldsmith trumps all!

  • @TheTypicalGirl Bullshit, Voyagers theme is lame compared to this.

  • @TheTypicalGirl I can't stand the Voyager theme... and I like Voyager.

  • Best star trek theme ever made

  • Best theme for a series ever :) Epic programme!

  • It's too bad a lot of Star Trek episodes on here have been taken down and I am the only one in the whole wide world to notice as of now.

  • like voy and tng a great theme for a great show

  • i like tng,voy and ds9 theme i reakised they were all in the 24th centuary and came out around the same time

  • It has been awhile since I heard this again. I had goosebumps when the trumpets came in full chorus with the rest of the orchestra, around 0:37

  • @VincentAzerite Same years down the line any time it hits those trumpets the goosebumps follow. Shame is I almost forgot till I started to Watch some selected episodes for writing inspiration.

  • @VincentAzerite And you're not alone! Great music.

  • @VincentAzerite Chorus? There are no vocal parts in this theme...

You really need to revise your vocabulary!

  • this is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EPIC

  • I'm trying to figure this song out on tenor sax, but it just doesn't sound right when I try. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • why dont they make them like this anymore....sigh

  • Gives me goosebumps every time!

  • Hi, I am working on a documentary (Normalization process between the PRC and US) and we would love to use this song as background music. However, it is too well known and "would be distracting" according to our judges. Anyone have any similar songs? We want something that is not too intense, dark, or sad. Thanks :)

  • Best theme of any Star trek period.

  • I wish they would start showing DS9 (as well as Voyager, TOS, and TAS) on TV. All I get is Next Generation and Enterprise, doesn't always cut it for me

  • Dennis McCarthy is probably one of the most underrated film composers out there.

  • deep space nine is the best sci-fi show ever

  • Wow that is an awful opening title. It's so bland, static and dull. It's up there with Stargate SG1's titles for the forst 4/5 seasons.

  • @Superbruv07 SG1 has an awesome theme!

  • @Austionous You misunderstand. SG1 was a great THEME, but for the first 5 seasons it had awful Opening Titles - This has both.

  • @Superbruv07 Oh, well in that case, I agree!

  • DS9 = voyages of the defiant - a starship on a five year mission to kick ass. hell yes. XD

  • I still think the original one is better. Sounds more spacey/synthey. This version is good too though.

  • What a great theme, I had to google this to find it, can not even find deep space nine on any channel if not for anything but to listen to it on our bose system connected to our 65 inch plasma tv, but I can listen to it on the bose up on our main computer, but for everything the show had to offer was that all nations needed to unite and get along no matter colour race or creed, really was quite entertaining, thank you yotube for making this soundtrack avaiable

  • @Godmode680 You won't regret it. When I originally made that comment I was downloading the show illegally on my computer. But, I ended up liking it so much I actually went out and bought the whole thing on DVD. The characters and story arcs on DS9 have so much depth. By the time the show finished, I was genuinely sad to see it come to an end.

  • Dazzling from the start, but LOVE the french horns around 1:00... hope these themes will still be played for years and years.

  • I always have liked this intro, but when I saw this on a TV I was blown away. This has to be one of the best Star Trek intros ever.

  • Voyager theme star

  • I was raised on TOS; it took a lot to get me into TNG which I initially saw as a rip-off (I still think S1 is bad) - but the Borg and some good actors (Stewart and Spiner mainly) did the trick. DS9 took a lot for me to get into as well - if not for Andrew Robinson's acting in particular, it probably never would have grown on me. I never could find a hook for Voyager and Enterprise - I still loathe those two shows to this day.

DS9 had the best opening, however. By a long shot.

  • I'm a TOS guy myself, but I love this theme. Sounds...triumphant.

  • I can't believe its almost been 12 years since the last episode :( This was always the best Star trek and i still remember watching this when i was only 4 to 5 years old back in 1997/98 and 1999.

  • I always love playing this song with my eyes closed on keyboard. It's such a beautiful song that gives one such warm, hope and comfort.

  • DS9 had the best music and voyager had the best opening scene

  • Comment removed

  • @Crunor I can understand that, if i have a show i wouldn't want it to be showed on German television either.

    I mean...come on....

  • Comment removed

  • i loved this show

    i miss star trek

  • In order of my fav's

    Voyager

    DS9

I really like this theme tune though it's so much like Voyager, so peaceful.

  • @ShroudedFury

Yeah, I agree. Voyager was by far the best :)

  • @eviltreemonster please, voyager sucked so bad...

  • @RebelAdmiral

You cannot be serious. Voyager was and is the best.

  • @eviltreemonster Totally agreed.

  • @eviltreemonster you can't be serious...

  • @HecG

    I am serious.

  • @eviltreemonster WHY?!

  • @HecG

    Why not?

  • @eviltreemonster Well, you HAVE to admit, that they managed to completely screw the entire premise of the show in less than one season. Maquis and Starfleet were friends, apart from some very rare opportunities and the fact that the ship was all alone, on a way home across mostly hostile territory and with only limited resources and no backup of any sorts was rarely even touched upon.

Shame, really. There's only one episode true to at least half of that premise and that's the "Year of Hell".

  • Voyager COULD have been much better, if it only hadn't been so poorly written (to which Janeway is the ultimate example). They did better with Enterprise Season 3, where the ship actually suffered visibly and by the end of their stay in the Expanse was barely holding together. Another example: nBSG, Galactica not only got continuosly beaten upon, it even became a major plot point that "The Bucket" was literally breaking apart near the end.

  • @Draco1985m

Eh? What's wrong with Janeway? She's the one that made the whole thing work. Her and Seven, that is :)

  • @eviltreemonster Erm, let's see, where do I get started... Well, there is the fact that she seems to alternate between "We're Starfleet, so we've got to stick to our principles!!!" and "Screw the rules, we're going home!!!" on a weekly basis. Also, she can even surpass the early Picard in terms of pure jerkassery, should any crewmember DARE to disagree - Chakotay regularly got chewed out for that in a way that would make even Riker cry.

  • There was even that idea of having Janeway tried and maybe removed from command temporarily by her own crew after the self-righteous crap she pulled back in "Equinox".

Ah, and after the end of Voyager came the novels. She gets advice by Picard and not only is Picard obviously right, she does the verbal equivalent of shitting right into his face before she disregards the advice - and gets herself killed in the process.

Not before she's called out on how ignorant she is by Q's "wife", though.

  • @Draco1985m oh yeah i remember reading about that. the woman who plays janeway was tired of the show and wanted to leave during the equinox ep, but decided to stay

  • @eviltreemonster

Captain Janeway has died 15 times throughout the run of Star Trek Voyager

  • @HecG

And yet, she's still around. Some woman :)

  • <3 Colm Meaney

  • Music is not bad either and is actually relaxing compared to the short TOS.

I just recently got into Star Trek and LOVE it and the character developments however

I have noticed from reading as well as from other people that DS9 is not on a starship which sounds boring. No space exploration but maybe my Dad watched it in the early seasons.

STTNG was that way as well in the early part.

Voyager is not without movie mistakes either.

  • My dad is what you offically call "Trekkies" but could never get into Deep Space Nine no matter how hard he tried. Dad said every time he would watch it it would be a bumch of characters talking without really any "scenes".

There would be times where you feel suspence and feel something 'big' is going to happen but nothing did.

He watched a half hour of it and 15 minutes several other times and just couldn't get into it.

I personally don't know but the music is not as good as Voy.

  • tng and ds9 were my fav best programs of 90s

  • Great show. Too bad many do not appreciate it. It does require some patience to get through the first two seasons. But by the beginning of the 3rd season it is wonderful. I miss all the plots and subplots and stories. Amazing program.

  • The original series and TNG were my favorite shows, but THIS is my favorite opening.

  • I grew up with TNG and TOS reruns, but I think DS9 and Voyager were my two favorite series! I especially liked to see how DS9 showed how Capt. sisko dealt with the church/state issues!

  • Deep Space Nine was the best. In terms of theme songs I think Enterprise takes the money, even though it doesn't fit the mood of the show itself.

  • i have an idea for fan series based on DS9

its called Star Trek:Deep Space Ten

you know how this staions Cardasian name is Terok Nor

Well there is Empok Nor, DS9's sister station.

in this series Starfleet is given Empok Nor,that is when the name is changed to DS10.The DS9 staff is transfered to DS10 because of their experience with the station's systems(of course the Defiant goes with them(and the runabouts too)).Their job on Empok Nor is to get the station operational again.

  • intro sounds like Superman

  • this is, in my opinion, the third best star trek show, after the original series and voyager. these were the three 'good shows'. frankly tng was highly overated and enterprise is just plain rubbish. remember this is only my opinion.

  • the definant star ship is my favorit

  • as much as i do love all the seireseeseses i have got to admit this and the ORIGINAL! where the best out of the bundle, but thats my opinion

  • I like this and Voyager is one of my favourites

  • Its alot of action for an outpost

  • @jabathehutt5555 Outpost? What the hell is that supposed to mean? It was only an outpost for what...the first two episodes, and then it was the most important hub in the galaxy, access to the Gamma Quadrant instantaneously!

  • @MJ0428 I didnt knbow i havent watched hole version yet.......

  • @jabathehutt5555 Oh ok sorry, didn't mean to blow up there Lol :)

  • DS9 is my favorite Star Trek after TOS and TAS, Enterprise in that order then Voyager and Next Gen. At least it wasn't all talk and Sisko like Kirk did use some cowboy diplomacy on occasions.

  • In my opinion the USS Defiant is the best looking Star Trek ship. It's much less modular than most of the other ships

  • I loved this series, one of the best in my opinion.

  • This opening music reminds me of Arron Coplands Fanfare for the Common Man.

  • @FlibbidyFleu Ya know I just figured that out. I was listening to YOU TUBE James Levine conducting the NYP, and the theme DSN jumped out at me!!

  • Hmm this one is pretty cool, but i like more the ST:Voy theme =)

  • Definitely my favourite Star Trek theme. It's soothing and powerful at the same time...

  • Dude you definatly hit the nail on the head with that comment. I agree.

  • Forgot how good this them song was. Really miss the late Jerry Goldsmith and his music.

  • This wasn't Jerry Goldsmith though.

  • This is my favourite ST theme

    Reminds me of Aaron Copland.

  • i started singing this song in my head a few days ago and its driving me insane. good theme song.

  • I grew up with ST since TNG. But DS9 is (in my opinion) the best of all the STseries.

And this the is best theme. I wish they would repeat it in TV...

  • Personally I prefer the TNG theme. It has more energy to it and in my opinion is more fun to listen to. I like DS9 but I have some problems with it. Like there aren't enough episodes like "The visitor" to make it completely feel like a star trek show to me. And not of episodes unlike TOS have a lot of exploration of the human condition in almost every episode. There are definitely some that do but there seems to be more emphasis on story arcs rather than substance. But again just my opinion.

  • @ShieldTank screw that, voyager was the bomb

  • virgin 1 ftw

  • they do! on virgin 1 every week day

  • This theme gives me goosebumps.

  • i actually never even watched DS9 a few times im more into TNG and Voyager but this is one of the best themes
