The fact he died...made this movie shit. I'm all for not happy endings...but this was bullshit. They could've had flashbacks or scenes of the FBI or his family looking for him. I get it Ryan Renolds is good on the eyes of the ladies...but seeing a sweaty dude in a box for 90mins is just lame. And the ending...REALLY reallly? I mean they could've made it he was burred too deep and got out or something, a twist ending would be nice...not him just sitting their waiting to die. Fuck this movie!

@Metalitron12 Sure it was depressing, but since it was able to make that impression on us, it is extremely impressive. to make the audience feel for the protagonist is not an easy task and to make us feel sad about him dying, I believe achieved it's goal.

I liked it to, but I felt so heartbroken and I cried so much at the end because, since you got to be in the box with him, you also got to die in the box with him. :( The ending was a big shock and extremly disturbing but I did think it was a good concept.

Yeah I agree with everyone, that ending was absolutely crazy, but I guess it is better than being predictable. I usually am okay with bad endings where everyone dies but for some reason my stomach felt nauseous when he says "I'm so sorry Paul."

And presumably when Mark White got out all of the sand went in, so he can't tell which coffin it is.

Why didn't the main actor just break his way out of the coffin and climb his way out? It wouldn't be that hard to dig out of 2 feet of sand if done right with what he had. Instead he waste his time calling people who don't really help him. As well as the company calling him to tell him he's fired so they don't save his ass. That doesn't make any sense. That company just hurt themselves more by don't just that. A 10 page script does not make a 90 minute movie!

Some review...you spent almost 2 minutes talking about how it's entirely in the box and how not everyone will like it. Then all you have to say is you liked it and problems with the writing? No mention of the underlying themes of the movie? No talk about how the conflict in the movie is buracracy and how Reynold's can't get results fast enough because of the red tape? What about Cortes decision to show shots from the blackness surround him? Making us voyeurs too as well as experiencing it.
great unique concept. executed very well...and you're right. it's definitely not for everyone. but if you're a guy that appreciates a film for its direction, creativity, and something unique, highly reccommended!

I just finished this movie but I watched it online and with headphones on so I missed some parts of the phone calls he made. Especially with the guy who did this to him, I couldn't hear one thing of it. And at the end what does the Brit say to him on the phone? That it was the wrong spot or what?

Sure. Call us fuckin morons for not liking this movie. Really what the fuck is so good about it? The guys wife dies, The entire movie you want him to get out and kick some ass. But he doesn't!!! He ends up dying and suffocating in the sand. Now thats just fucking depressing.
It is human nature to not want to lose and to try your best to survive. This movie automatically made him the loser. Not a movie worth watching in my opinion. I'm going back to the movie HEAT from the 90s. Good film

Yea i thought it was sad, and the fact that he just spoke to his wife and said he was going to be okay did suck, but it made it sadder and made me feel more real pain, not fucked up pain like I'm all emo, but real emotional pain that I haven't got from a movie in a long time.

I liked it to, but I felt so heartbroken and I cried so much at the end because, since you got to be in the box with him, you also got to die in the box with him. :( The ending was a big shock and extremly disturbing but I did think it was a good concept.

Yeah I agree with everyone, that ending was absolutely crazy, but I guess it is better than being predictable. I usually am okay with bad endings where everyone dies but for some reason my stomach felt nauseous when he says "I'm so sorry Paul."

We don't know if Brenner kept digging. Also, at the VERY END of the credits, the words "Mark White" appear on the wood board just like Paul had written them. I believe the creators are trying to tell us something... There is more to the written name "Mark White" than we might think. They wouldn't be there for nothing.

@goombapoop Thank you for writing this. I really hated the ending to Buried. On wiki, it says he died, but I still have -SOME- hope. But if he broke it open how would he see the writing 'Mark White.' And presumably when Mark White got out all of the sand went in, so he can't tell which coffin it is.

I just feel that there's sort of secret behind the name, especially since it reappears after all the credits.

Like, when he thought it was mark white coffin, he ripped it open, and it switches the camera to what Dan is seeing. [MARK WHITE] So, there has to be some type of conclusion. Did he keep digging, or not? We don't know which is the problem.

I think we're supposed to feel like, "Oh, man! It was really Paul's coffin! Not Mark Whites! If only Brenner would have continued digging, he would have found Paul!" And that's why I believe so much emphasis was put on Mark White's name.

Hey. I know the real ending. Paul writes "Mark White" on one side of the coffing. He then switches to the other side of the coffin where he remains the rest of the movie. Why didn't the main actor just break his way out of the coffin and climb his way out? It wouldn't be that hard to dig out of 2 feet of sand if done right with what he had. Instead he waste his time calling people who don't really help him. As well as the company calling him to tell him he's fired so they don't save his ass. That doesn't make any sense. That company just hurt themselves more by don't just that. A 10 page script does not make a 90 minute movie!

Some review...you spent almost 2 minutes talking about how it's entirely in the box and how not everyone will like it. Then all you have to say is you liked it and problems with the writing? No mention of the underlying themes of the movie? No talk about how the conflict in the movie is buracracy and how Reynold's can't get results fast enough because of the red tape?
