I live in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island Canada and I heard a sound like this - high pitched and continuous - last summer for two days. I kept expecting to discover a large pump or some type of machine to be the source, but there was no explanation. It seemed to come from every direction and thankfully it wasn't as loud as what you experienced. I had completely forgotten about it until I saw your video...and now I've learned that other friends remember having heard it.
