I remember my family watched this when i was a kid. i was just in preschool then and was learning all about 911 and how it helps people! Im 19 now and love to watch shows that remind me of simpler days.
I have called 911 3 (or 4) times to report possible drunks, I learned one was latter arrested and high on drugs, but they did not weave that much! If they were and there as not a cop or ambulance in sight I would try to safely stop it. I don't care what the insurance company would say about it. If I don't do anything someone died due to my inaction and I would never forgive my self. If I died trying to stop the car, it would be ok ,because I died trying to save someone else.

wow i remember when this was a new episode, use to drive that road daily, thats my dads firebird in the :32 shot. Trust me not many people had an 82 brown firebird in that town. Im feeling old!
Good advice! Just to justify it in this case though, back in that day cars generally didn't have airbags therefore it really wasn't anymore dangerous to have car seats up front. Back in the late-80's when I was of car seat age my parents used to put me up front too.

People who drink alcohol shouldn't be allowed to drive, but they get their licenses back even after receiving two or three 'driving while intoxicated' citations.
It's amazing how few people care about that until after some other driver is hurt or killed by a drunk driver.
In my work as a Paramedic, I see drunk driving accidents 3 and 4 times a month.
I can't remember the last time I saw an accident caused by a medical condition.
If every person with a medical condition wasn't able to drive, no matter how minor the medical condition is, half or more of the people of the world would probably off the road.
I have diabetes. I control it well. I also control my car well. I have never once struck anybody or anything with my car, nor have I had a blackout. I think you, at 44 years old, should know better than to judge people with medical conditons and wish they'd lose their privelages. By the time you lose your vision and what's left of your sanity due to old age, I'll still be on the road.
She didn't know, she was diagnosed at the hospital. You really shouldn't be stereotypical either. If the medical problem is small enough like diabetes or heart failure that would mean they would be allowed to drive. Not everyone has perfect health.
sometimes medical conditions like blackouts or seizures can strike without warning, so you cant just say "people with medical conditions shouldnt be allowed to drive", because these things can strike your body without warning.
that is just wrong bascially you are saying I cant drive just becasue i or other people have medical conditions. If I have a medical condition doesnt mean I cant drive when I grow up
it all depends what kind of medical conditions they are cuz i have one but its not bad...i had open heart surgeries but its nothing that will get in the way of me being able to drive...if its someone that has seizers or blackouts i do agree....or someone that has that sleeping disorder...but just cuz ppl have that doesnt mean they cant drive..they have every right and they want to be treated like everyone else and not be judged by that
Wow that is scary!!! I would be afraid to drive alone again especially with my child in the car! Especially since she said there were no warning signs to her that she would black out. That could happen again!
I don't remember. Probably in the early 90's, but I don't think they became standard until the mid to late 90's. My parents first bought a vehicle with an airbag in 1993 or 1994.

allgood2000,thank you for posting these videos. They are rather interesting, especially the ones containing clips of emergencies with seizures. I am epileptic and it is rather interesting and illuminating. Thanks.
Hmm...It's not really nice to call her a stupid cow. She has epilepsy. I have epilepsy and I can drive while I'm seizure free. Also, she didn't know she was epileptic before than. But yes though, you can have epilepsy and still drive. I have a few times but currently I can't because of my recent seizures.
For many people who are coping, living and caring for victims of seizures, I understand the video is very disturbing. Instead of agonizing over the painful disturbing event, it's better to see the positive part of educational values of the video. We all can learn something from the miseries of seizures, which may help us face our vulnerability. I hope you understand.
Where's the money that the government for decades deducted in the name of ESSP, 401k plan, capital gain, social security, sales or income taxes from every income and pay check I made? First, answer the question, where's my tax dollars?

But being homeless and resourcesless for the last two years I can NOT afford brain surgery. Therefore, I'm in catch22. I'm sorry to say but I feel overwhelmed and helpless. Any helpful idea?
French, For centuries, the "law makers" of the states and the federal government refused to provide health care for their tax payers. Therefore, why would the American people succumb to the same "law makers" who fail to provide them with adequate health care system after having paid their taxes all their life time? I'm NOT sure if any one can abuse and take advantage of any one with out their permission, in these case, "law makers" abusing citizens. Why are the citizens taking it sitting down?
Would you mind sharing your story about your seizures?
Having untreatable seizures of own for 10 years, I just thought it would be very interesting to share and great to know how others are coping with their seizures.
Just like Alcoholics Anonymous, why isn't the Epilepsy Foundation available any where in USA, except designate areas? Who finances the EFA? Besides dispensing redudant self-serving brochures, how, what, where and when did the EFA helped any victim of Epilepsy since it ever came to happen around? I wonder, if the EFA have any idea that victims of seizures are losing every thing they have ever earned for persistent seizures? WHERE'S THE HELP?
thanks for posting, my son has a seizure disorder and is having a hard time with the fact he cant drive for several mouths due to recent seizures. i plan on using this to video to help teach him about the importance of not driving.
If there ever was any people on this planet who deserv
a Nobel Prize, they had to be the Ambulance drivers and Emergency Technicians, who rescue people from all forms of danger, death and destruction. Thanks for these every day heros, many lives have been saved.
NO OTHER PROFESSION CAN EVER CLAIM THAT,,, Thanks for 911.
rescue 911 is up to 429 votes ,lets see how many more we can get ,if you would like to vote on rescue 911 go to tvshowsondvd, com ,o i am also trying to get unsolved mysteries season 1 ,out on dvd ,it is up to 409 vote ,
The problem with epilepsy is sometimes you are in AUTOPILOT, subconciously and unconciously doing things that your MIND is familiar with but NOT aware of what you are doing. In a lot of cases you can't even recognize nor remember what you are doing even after you have been told. I've been there & done that.
Epilepsy is more than just seizures, fall downs, broken faces, broken bones, convlutions, toung biting, etc. There's more to Epilepsy than the eye can see.
Good for you. You are very responsible, unlike this silly woman who has no business being on the road, especially with a child in the car (and in the FRONT seat too, which is a whole OTHER issue) xoxo
Yeah lol. I hate it when people have little ones in the front seat! It's dangerous and they could be killed by the airbag if the car were to hit a wall or something!
Keep in mind this was in 1990. Airbags weren't standard back then. They didn't start recommending putting kids in the back seat until around 1995 or 96.
Where I live, in Australia, we were told to put out kids in the back long long before that. i think that is why I have such an issue with it, I am 34 and I remember being driven to primary school in the back seat, like everyone else in my area. I think it is just how you are socialised. My kids are nearly 10 and they never sit in the front.
I don't remember it being like that here in the States. I was 4 back in 1990, and my friends and I got to ride in the front sometimes. I remember I even had a special booster seat so the shoulder harness would fit properly. It wasn't until about 1995 that my mom started making me sit in the back seat. There was some horror story going around about a five-year-old who was decapitated by an airbag.
It is funny how we are so similar to the US in some ways, yet we have such different ideas on things like that. I know over in US there are some states where motorcycle helmets and seat are optional. No way would that happen here. Just different attitudes I guess :o)
I'm just glad you didn't have a shot at my friend's mom. When he was three or four, she let him ride in the front seat... on her lap without a seatbelt. Even I told them that was a bad idea (when I was 7).
I'm with allgood on this one- I was 4 when in 1990, and I used to sit in the front seat long before that. I started sitting in back a few years later, I guess it had to do with the horror story or maybe there was a law. I'm not sure. Regardless, the US has some varying laws, and frankly, we could learn a few things from you Aussies- I wish we'd adapt those laws there- I hate it when people pass me on a motorcycle going down the freeway at 90 mph, and no helmet. I'm in a pickup- no contest there!
TO ALL AMBULANCE DRIVERS, EMERGENCY TECHNICIANS & FIGHER FIGHTERS, with eternal gratitude and deep heartfelt respect, I bow my head in your honor.
Thank you for saving my life many times over for a decade when ever I'm struck with Grand Epileptic Seizures. You are and will always remain the every day heros of our lives. Thank You
Wow what amazing people, whats is even scarier is when people have absent seizures. An absent seizure is when a person is talking fine and they just go quiet and look like they are staring into nothing their eyes are usually open but they don't see you.
This segment is what I consider a medical mystery segment, because you don't know what's wrong with that person until the dr. says it., these are one of my favorites.
I did not know that people with epilepsy have black-outs untill watching this segment just now. I have heard of epileptic seizures, but I have never heard of epileptic black-outs. Those 2 medics must be track stars along with that lady who stops the car with the man (Leonard Meran) having the heart attack!
I remember my family watched this when i was a kid. i was just in preschool then and was learning all about 911 and how it helps people! Im 19 now and love to watch shows that remind me of simpler days.

Do you have the 2nd segment from this episode where a cop is wounded in a shootout by a gas thief? If so, could you put that one up?
NDW85 4 years ago
Folks,
Would you mind sharing your story about your seizures?
Having untreatable seizures of own for 10 years, I just thought it would be very interesting to share and great to know how others are coping with their seizures.
Thank you,
Gerrie

Ask your Senator,
Just like Alcoholics Anonymous, why isn't the Epilepsy Foundation available any where in USA, except designate areas? Who finances the EFA? Besides dispensing redudant self-serving brochures, how, what, where and when did the EFA helped any victim of Epilepsy since it ever came to happen around? I wonder, if the EFA have any idea that victims of seizures are losing every thing they have ever earned for persistent seizures? WHERE'S THE HELP?

If there ever was any people on this planet who deserv
a Nobel Prize, they had to be the Ambulance drivers and Emergency Technicians, who rescue people from all forms of danger, death and destruction. Thanks for these every day heros, many lives have been saved.

Wow. Those paramedics were lucky her doors were unlocked. Most cars nowadays lock when you're in drive. If that was me in the car, I'd be screwed.

MySeizures 4 years ago
Yes there is. I never drive for this very reason.
Seccnightelf 4 years ago
Good for you. You are very responsible, unlike this silly woman who has no business being on the road, especially with a child in the car (and in the FRONT seat too, which is a whole OTHER issue) xoxo
IcePrincess73 4 years ago
Yeah lol. I hate it when people have little ones in the front seat! It's dangerous and they could be killed by the airbag if the car were to hit a wall or something!
Seccnightelf 4 years ago
Keep in mind this was in 1990. Airbags weren't standard back then. They didn't start recommending putting kids in the back seat until around 1995 or 96.
allgood2000 4 years ago
Where I live, in Australia, we were told to put out kids in the back long long before that. i think that is why I have such an issue with it, I am 34 and I remember being driven to primary school in the back seat, like everyone else in my area. I think it is just how you are socialised. My kids are nearly 10 and they never sit in the front.
IcePrincess73 4 years ago
I don't remember it being like that here in the States. I was 4 back in 1990, and my friends and I got to ride in the front sometimes. I remember I even had a special booster seat so the shoulder harness would fit properly. It wasn't until about 1995 that my mom started making me sit in the back seat. There was some horror story going around about a five-year-old who was decapitated by an airbag.
allgood2000 4 years ago
It is funny how we are so similar to the US in some ways, yet we have such different ideas on things like that. I know over in US there are some states where motorcycle helmets and seat are optional. No way would that happen here. Just different attitudes I guess :o)
IcePrincess73 4 years ago
I'm just glad you didn't have a shot at my friend's mom. When he was three or four, she let him ride in the front seat... on her lap without a seatbelt. Even I told them that was a bad idea (when I was 7).
allgood2000 4 years ago
I'm with allgood on this one- I was 4 when in 1990, and I used to sit in the front seat long before that. I started sitting in back a few years later, I guess it had to do with the horror story or maybe there was a law. I'm not sure. Regardless, the US has some varying laws, and frankly, we could learn a few things from you Aussies- I wish we'd adapt those laws there- I hate it when people pass me on a motorcycle going down the freeway at 90 mph, and no helmet. I'm in a pickup- no contest there!
chrisz71 4 years ago
Today, airbags are designed more intelligently so they do not decapitate children.

ah, look, the seriess is on youtube, it's showing up on this page, so we can watch it here.

this is kind of reminiscent of #106 where a suicidal woman was driving her car in this sort of fashion.

Why woman did have seizure?
Rescue911Trooper 4 years ago
She had epilepsy, but she didn't know it at the time. I don't think she had a seizure though, I think she just blacked out.

This segment is what I consider a medical mystery segment, because you don't know what's wrong with that person until the dr. says it., these are one of my favorites.
gregorkrause 4 years ago
I did not know that people with epilepsy have black-outs untill watching this segment just now. I have heard of epileptic seizures, but I have never heard of epileptic black-outs. Those 2 medics must be track stars along with that lady who stops the car with the man (Leonard Meran) having the heart attack!
