Maybe Aquire was making the game for Capcom, that fell through, which eventually led to Rockstar getting the game and finishing it up? The game has a very similar visual and gameplay presentation to Aquire's games...

That they are involved will not again have Acquire and Activison, since they had trouble about the copyright of Tenchu in the past.

I think so. When I first heard that I thought this was going to be WOTS 3, but it came here as Samurai Western. However, I don't know if this is part of the WOTS storyline as far as Japan's concerned.
