I have this SAME Heritage engine only from Lionel. MTH's is WAY better! Lionel has some nice lighting effects (like the ground speed lights illuminating the front trucks) and cab lights that automatically go out- but the sound is terrible! The quality of sound is good, but the "realism" is way off (almost generic). MTH's sounds EXACTLY like the real thing!! I wished I had gotten this version like yours instead of Lionel's.
Hey Joe, thanks for the comment and I'm glad to hear that you enjoy these vids. I'm happy with this locomotive, but looking back I wish I got the Lionel version instead. Just personal preference. I've never seen an SD70ACe in person, but from watching dvd's and vids on YouTube both Lionel and MTH did a nice job with the sound. I prefer Railsounds over PS2, but then again sound is subjective. What sounds nice to one person might not sound as nice to the next person.
@rj2571 Railsounds definitely has a deeper, throatier sound (more bass) over PS2. But accuracy is another subject.
"I've never seen an SD70ACe in person, but from watching dvd's and vids on YouTube"
Do a youtube search for "BNSF SD70ACe at Cass Lake" Then listen to your MTH sd70ace. Then watch (and listen) to "BNSF SD70ACe at Cass Lake" again and listen to the Lionel. You will definitely hear the "accuracy" w/MTH vs. Lionel.
@rj2571 What I mean is MTH replicated (recorded) that distinct "high pitched whining-throbbing" sound the SD70 makes when it is idling. also SD70 has an unique system that uses compressed air to spin a turbine to crank the engine at start up. MTH replicated this too.
I have watched those videos. As well as Union Pacific 1982 in Oregon and Up 1988 Miss Katy in Texas. The start up and idle sounds are better on the MTH version. But other then that I like the Railsounds better.
Well enough Joe. Everybody likes/prefers different things. Kind of like Ford vs. Chevy or the Yankees vs. Red Sox. Both Lionel and MTH make great trains. As well as Atlas O, Weaver, and all the manufactures. This really is a wonderful time to be in this hobby. I also like your videos and enjoy watching them. And that is a wonderful story about Rails. It's very nice how you rescued him.

Seriously listening to these youtube sites:
"SD70ACe Startup UP 1996"
"UP "Western Pacific Heritage" 1983 SD70ACe Start up! (06/23/2011)"
"SD70Ace Idling Sweetwater,Tx"

@rj2571 Well, I would have to respectfully disagree....
