It's been awhile since i've watched this show. But wasn't there a point where he lost his job and was transfered then all the students just randomly happened to be at the new school. Either way the randomness is part of the show's charm.

Actually, they didn't really skip it. After he got runover by the tram, theres this extra bit at the end of the episode showing that he got out of surgery in a hospital with everyone waiting for him in the lobby.
