  • Tommy Emmanuel is so extremely gifted, it almost seems incredible. His technical ability on the acoustic guitar is second to none. Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed were very good and I love them very much, but they don't come close to Tommy Emmanuel. He is truly the Paganini of the guitar world.

  • tommy does stuff no mortal can do

  • Eu estou muito feliz, por encontrar pessoas que louvam a Deus com alegria!!

Aqui no Brasil, tem milhares de pessoas que amam a Deus tambem, e demonstram através de canções!

  • Lol! he shakes RH's hand and then wipes his hand on his trousers, I'm sure its unintentional, but never the less, an interesting observation. Also interesting is the fact that he pays little heed to his fingering yet seems to be very interested in RH's fingerwork, even when somebody approaches from his left, he continues playing effortlessly.

  • lol I'm convinced Tommy could play guitar boogie backwards standing on his head with a spoon on his nose without a guitar - that's his level

  • @juzzlookin hmm...maybe its because he wants to keep the least amount of sweat and oil on his hands as possible. To keep the strings from corroding and such. Idk, thats what im thinking.

  • sirbowlyn:- Quite possibly, who knows. It was just an observation though, and certainly not a criticism.

  • quite right. I dont think anyone here has the balls to criticize mr. T.E. anyhow..lol or the right, for that matter. but yea, i knew it was only an observation, a good one at that.

  • i love tommy emmanuel, i've met him loads of times and we even hung out backstage when we were both on the bill at kirkmichael guitar festival, he's a great guy with time for everyone

  • It is always an unbelieveable privilege and a big thrill to get to pick with Tommy. He always brings out the best. I hit a 2 chord that Tommy didn't like; and he told me about it afterwards. We always have a great time and I always learn from him. Tommy is not only a great guitar player but one of the finest human beings on this planet. I'm a big fan.

    Richard

  • Really fun fellas; my toes are a tappin double time!

  • E to F# to B to E

    A to C# to F# to B# to B

    E to F# to B to E

    A to C# to F# to B to E

    Theres the main verse part

"he gets a moanin tone" part is this

    A to F# to C# to B

Thats the basic outline, throws a lot of 7 chords in there with mad embellishing over them. GL

  • the "he gets a moanin tone, he gets a grumble and groan..." part goes from A, to E, to F#, B, then E.

  • makes it a lot easier to play that way. lol. Thanks!

  • :D i love it =)

  • where is chet adkins?

  • Unfortunately the great Chet Atkins passed away in 2001.

  • he went to get the drinks in 2001 and he aint come back

  • Go Richard, GO!!!

  • tommy sings realy good

  • Great Foot-Stomper too....

  • I love this song :)5*

  • so you sing as well.

  • Aparently you weren't alive 25-30 years ago.

  • i know tommy emmanuel for a few months( nice discovery) and what i like most about him is that he isn't arrogant at all.

  • Most people actually making and playing music are downright laid back from my experience. It's the clearchannel bunch that typically are McPlayed however.

  • There Is a Bluegrass Banjo player named Jim Mills that does a wonderful job of that tune he shows he can play guitar also

  • wow, great performance of tommy.

he made me believe only music matter.

    effect, visual, setting...all grab.

  • does anyone know the basic chord structure for this tune??

  • if you know the chords by ear help me out veteran.

  • I didn't say I was a veteran, it's just basic stuff though.

  • Actually these two guitars are playing in harmony, so it's next to impossible to pick out the proper solo chords. Only someone with an extremley advanced ear can pick out the two harmonic chords being played at once.

  • I'm very aware that they're playing in harmony.

  • haha as if. The way each of these chords are played would be very VERY difficult to figure out, because you need to get the bass lines right. If you're trying to figure out a chet or merle tune by ear good luck (easier with merle, and this is an easier song than most).

  • He said BASIC outline of the song, not the precise way that it's played by Tommy.

  • ya, and its hard

  • most awesome

  • If anyone got tabs for this and want to help me, plz contact me

  • I love this song.

  • tommys aussie

  • I LOOOOOVE TOMMY EMMANUEL

  • I'm thankful that you guys care for beginner fingerstyle guitar players and you help them out. Both you guys are number one in my book. I appreciate you both.

  • well Im comin to Kentucky cause I cant do it in Ca

  • Great tune from Kentucky by two great pickers that would make Merle proud. That's the way we do it in Georgia.

  • Superb.

  • Actually, if you watch close, Richard is doing most of the picking. Tommy is singing for most of it. Tommy LOVES to hear Richard pick. Tommy does kick in a little twin work and a fancy ending though.

  • Thanks for posting this video my friend. It is a thrill to jam with one of the best.

    Richard

  • @superpicker chet atkins did not write this. This is a mearle travis song.

  • Comment removed

  • @danielw1245 Sylvester Weaver recorded it back in the 20s. I think he wrote it, not sure.

  • @superpicker so what though? lol tommy is still way better, 2 different leagues, that other guy does play nice though

  • Thom Bresh plays a cool version of this on his Travis DVD

almost identical to the way Tommy plays it

I guess both playing it similar to how Merle did it originally.

  • What a cool song! Richard Hudson is amazing!

  • Thanks for the compliment. Tommy could make anyone sound good.

    Richard

  • this is awesomeness

  • Great Video - wonder how many songs TE knows?? Body language sez touching yer nose means something stinks to you. Wonder what the Deacon done?

  • well he is very religious... so that may be it.

  • Wonder why Tommy touches his nose every time he says deacon...

  • ha your right....???!!

  • i'm getting there! I can play with this vid now, and actually keep up, but there are a few riffs that i'm still workin on :-D Great song, great talent

  • Okay, figured em out. The trick is touching your nose.

  • does anyone have the tabulature for this song? If you can hook me up my email is xpbebopxp@gmail.com Thanks =]

  • well abercrombie was originally a high quality outdoors clothing outlet, like it used to be some of the higest quality but it got bought up by some other company after it went bankruped and now they market crapy t-shirts and pants to yuppie suburban kids

  • Truly Amazing, Emmanuel is blessed and he knows it, making him 100 times better

  • the guitar playing is quite high caliber...

but tommys wearing an Abercrombie t-shirt...

    and thats just hip hahahaha
