how do you COMPRESS the font?

@BryantSharp If you mean horizontally compress it, select EDIT/FREE TRANSFORM, un-click the 'constrain to proportions' button and move either the left or right transform handle to compress the font. However, I didn't compress this one - I used a font face that was already like this. Either Impact or Helvetica Compressed should do the job.

Nice text but horrible tutorial I mean you give us no values like with gradient and you could have used the text size so we don't have to spend an hour looking for the right values for our size my God this is horrible

If you mean the typeface, it was Helvetica Compressed converted to outlines in Illustrator and copied into Photoshop.

Soft light isn't an effect, it's a transfer mode. It's available in the layers palette.

This video was horrible, I had to replay it back with each step to see what the heck he was clicking. Took me about 3 hrs to get each detail exact and the final result was bogus. Looked like crap. He needs a redo with a higher photoshop version.. or something.. anything better then this.

what u could do if u need that diamond, is Print Screen when the diamond is on in the movie and then just copy paste it in photoshop and crop it, nice tutorial btw!

Hello! I like this tutorial and tried to follow it best I could being a total noob, it's not easy. Everything in the tutorial isn't explained, I guess you could say it has a few gaps. So sometimes I'm left scratching my head trying to figure the gaps out for myself. I reached the duplicate group stage then it literally turned ugly. Having duplicated the group the glints of light/sparkles turned gold and became bigger. I´m really clueless what to do. I seriously need help from someone friendly ;)

My advice would be to build up as conventional a portfolio as possible - nothing too contemporary or cutting edge. Design studios have to make a living, which they do not do by selling 'art'. Learn how to create good looking stationery, brochures etc - stuff that actually sells. Build your portfolio and skillset - then apply for interviews. Have confidence in yourself and the studio will have confidence in you.

Hi - the Photoshop extras CD contained other brush libraries - you should find it there but if not there are lots of free brush libraries online which can be loaded through the brush palette. Otherwise it is quite an easy brush to make.
