  • The actress who plays Trillian was once married to Peter Davison(5th Doctor), and their daughter married David Tennant! It's a sci fi family!!!

  • does anyone else hate Trillians voice?

  • 7:56 please enjoy your trip through this door

  • 5:19

    Hey, look, it's Douglas Adams.

  • Is it just me, or is that R2-D2 at 4:30?

  • @Kahran042 That's the idea of it :) Don't forget Star Wars was really big those days.

  • 1 person pressed the dislike button.

A sign lit up saying "please do not press this button again."

  • 5:00 Keith Lemon!

  • Doctor Who + Monty Python = HGTTG

  • I'd rather read the book than watch the movie or this series..

  • @priyadsh OK...and most of us understand why...

  • LOVE this heart of gold ship WAAAAAY better than that grey bubble piece of shite...in that PIECE OF SHTIE MOVIE!!... THAT MOVIE SHAT IN THE FACE OF DOUGLAS ADAMS AND HIS FANS...COMPLETE SHITE.....THIS BBC SERIES (LIKE THE RADIO SHOW AND BOOK) IS PURE BRILLIANCE....its amazing that bbc had .000000003% of the budget of that clusterfuck of a movie...and it was aweesome!

  • I think the new Marvin looks better.

  • All right, I'm very old but I still have a sense of humour and a little taste. Hitchhikers's Guide remains one of the funniest productions ever and Sandra Dickinson still turns my very old crank more than the remake.

  • the door sounds like GLaDOS from portal. So that is is what happened to her.

  • The one dislike is Marvin!

  • I hate this Trillian. The real Trillian has dark hair.

  • this show is way better than anything the yanks could ever do. It is not about the effects or props, it is about the underlying humor, which here beats everything including Blakes 7 !!! :-P

  • @ajwasp Hey.......The Marvin in the movie was better...just saying..

  • @iBenedetto the ONLY THING good about that cluster fuck shitstorm of a movie... was marvin...i agree... but that is it!

  • Someone help me out here. In a universe where apparently you can travel the galaxy using a special drive that runs on tea, how is it that Arthur Dent can't find a drop of the stuff after he leaves Earth?

  • zaphod's not very bright is he?

  • i LOVE marvin he's my favourite character

  • is it just me or did the computer screen thing say anal

  • Trillian's Voice is annoying....

  • i think i prefer this version except marvin. marvin looks too prototype here lol

  • How much has Britain lagged behind the US in terms of special effects for TV? This show came out in the 80s but half of the effects are equal to or possibly worse than the original Star Trek which was made in the mid-60s.

  • @Theroha no commercials! the BBC was spending most of its cash on news and such, so slightly niche entertainment like this was made on a budget of a couple of quid an episode

  • Odd… The versions I've seen have all had a bit with the book talking over the bit about the sirius cybernetics corp and the encyclopaedia galactica…

  • You can hear where a game like Portal 2 got its cheerily insincere turrets!

  • wiked episod, thanks for uploading, best show in this side of the galaxy

  • nice camel toe sandra

  • love the robot

  • Zaphod reminds me a bit of Eric Idle

  • R-2 unit @ 4:33!!

  • so funny

  • Hmm. I think I like the new version of Marvin better.

  • I feel that should point out the fact that there are 42 likes on this video as of right now.

  • "The one thing they really couldnt stand, Was a smart ass"

  • Marvin the Depressed robot; shows SIRIUS CYBERNETICS CORPORATION is a depressed bunch of people. Advance Artificial Intelligence (AI) is based upon neural networks and learning machines, this means they actually learn what you show them, based upon the input conditions of sensors and design. Marvin is depressed, because his manufacture company is depressed. But Marvin is still an over-the-top robot in service of life forms, and working it out, seeking God's apology for existing.

  • The invention of the Improbability Drive is based upon a physics assessment of the Universe based upon known proved equations; that creates a possible assessment of the Universe. Actually what we are is 7-dimention to 10-dimension creatures, and we exist in a subspace of our known, accessible, dimensions; therefore, the Heart Of Gold simply accesses all known Universe for a destination, but no looking back; when Aurthur left Earth, he never went back to the same one, infinite conditions.

  • @WOWJBEOWULF i always thought it was three dimensional beings traveling through the 4th dimension (at a constant speed) living in an 11 dimensional universe as shown in M theory. and at least the part about the clothes is actually SOMEWHAT realistic, in that it is VERY VERY unlikely that someones underwear could teleport, but IS possible. physics nerds ftw!!!

  • @42connorzielinski42 The Improbability Drive simply chooses its future, by collapsing the probability wave; flash for science fiction audience, but destination is by probability. What is added is the Pan-Dimensional features; meaning there are many dimension perspectives of the Universe; and when Zaphod Beeblebrox signed the Earth destruction order for a hyperspace byway, it was for all Earths--truly self-absorbed.

  • @42connorzielinski42 its possible to teleport a single person if you can liberate all the energy in the Galaxy (i think it was). got that nugget from a new scientist:)

  • This show was great im just hoping someday they make (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy 2) -The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

  • The idea of a Robot with Depression. That single concept is more creative and original than the entire film Avatar. @3:20

  • love it... i dont like the american trillion in this, this feature film trillion was better, but as always the original is the best :)

  • Anyone notice how Marvin's head looks kind of like an Easter island statue?

  • 4:30

Why does that dome-headed robot holding the cat look so suspiciously familiar?

  • i just dont like ford in this version, he kind of ruins the lines for me

  • @ReelBigStreetlight yeah I thought Mos Def was better for the role, although I did love this when I was a kid. Sam Rockwell stole the show in the film, he was brilliant.

  • í'd figured the talking doors to sound all cheerfull and advertisement voiceover-like.

  • don't talk to me about life :(

    love Marvin!!

  • and all he had to do is hook it up to a cup of tea hmm...

  • I love everything about this series so far except Trillian. She doesn't seem much like her radio-and-book self. Everyone else is awesome, though!

  • @aliveinchrist13 Agreed...I was a bit disappointed. But everything is epic.

  • The Trillian here isn't that bad, actually. Of course, Zooey Deschanel is so much better (and more beautiful as well ^^).

But it's nice that in the Quintessential Phase of the radio play Sandra Dickinson (who plays Trilian in the TV series) once again takes over the role of Trisha. Arthur makes a comment, about how she suddendly appears to be blonde and american as opposed to the Trillian he first met, who was brunette and english. ^^

  • Marvin, the original emo.. XD

  • Unfortunately this Marvin does look antiquated compared to the movie version. Then again what it mean when his says "his brain is the size of a planet"?

  • Zaphods head looks a bit silly in this, but I suppose it's due to it being 80's effects.

  • 80's effects with no budget XD.

At least they diddnt take the Dr. who approach at the time and make it out of bubble wrap and talc.

  • @edblaster2000 looks like bob odenkirk...better call saul!

  • @edblaster2000 The funny thing is when I read the book I always forgot Zaphod had two heads, and when it came up it always ruined the image of Zaphod I had in my mind. Somehow three hands and two heads are very difficult to imagine. Perhaps that's why I they did Zaphod the way he was in the movie. It's fun to watch the series though I wouldn't mind a remake. I know, I know, but still.

  • "Your plastic pal who's fun to be with!" Freakin' sweeeeeet!

  • WOW! Arthur,Zaphod, and the book's voice are all the same people from the radio show....SWEET!

  • I like the 2005 movie voice of Marvin better, but the actual Marvin from this one.

  • Of course. What *is* his name again... I can never remember but he does have a great voice. Such a sardonic and depressing quality...

  • all I remember is that he's the guy that plays Snape on the Harry Potter movies

  • What drugs you on ? Snape is played by Allan Rickman

  • @Guppychild17

The guy you're thinking of is Alan Rickman

  • trillian is one of the few things the movie did better (that and zaphod, too bad his heads and hands where in the wrong spots)

  • that and marvin

  • Zaphod's second head: can you say Uncanny Valley?

  • OMG so much I could say... They have zaphod as zaphod should look!

  • so much more than the film

  • I think you OUGHT to know I'm feeling very depressed!!! lol

  • Tanks!!

  • First commment tells you: we wish that you would be blessed by God for sharing the original H2G2 BBC TV series!!!
