  • "I looked in closets for the skeleton bones - I found an empty safe for measures of Gold" Now that is a great lyric. In a similar vein to "Look over your shoulder and tell me what's coming - tell me what is the bogey that your so afraid of - IF YOU MUST BE AFRAID - BE AFRAID OF YOUR SELF for feeling afraid of the fears you have felt - you will weather well - in a climate of love". What a great lyricist - a great songsmith - what a humble spirit - Behold the man Jesus - consider his servant Mark!

  • is there any way to get a copy of Tribal Opera? I used to have the cassette but have no idea where it is today. I loved it! mandy.schwarm@williams.com.

  • @sokguru I have it on vinyl thanks to paste. But i bought it 4 years ago. Not sure if they have it in stock.

  • Mark Heard and Dan Fogelberg are my two favorite singer songwriters and sadly, both have left this world.Thank heavens for recordings and great websites like You Tube that keep the music alive always!!Thanks for sharing this classic!!

  • no way!!! Thank you so much for uploading

  • a true poet.

  • Wonderful musician and songwriter. I loved him.

  • my dad was best friends with him, it's sad he's gone, I remember some real funny sayings he used to say

  • Dont flag this it is definitely for posterity....

  • Thanks for the video! I think that, because IDEoLA is so difficult to find, it tends to get lost within his collection of work. But I think it's a worthy precursor to THE TRILOGY. Mark Heard definately was and is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. His lyrics have influenced me a lot. I think that the only two artists who have ever had the same talent with blending faith and art in their music is Bill Mallonee (Heard produced one of VoL's albums) and Over the Rhine.

  • Mark Heard was by far one of the best songwriters of all time, secular or Christian.

  • I eat sleep and breathe music. It is all I have ever done for a living. I am 40 and in my humble opinion St Mark Heard is the greatest song writer EVER. I have expressed this in person to Randy Stonehill and the late St Larry Norman when they came to Australia and they both agreed with me. I think Mr M Been from The Call comes in second but even he would express his love of Marks work. I wish he had laughed more though. God bless any and all with EARS TO HEAR. JC loves MH. MH loves JC. Love Al.

  • I think I wore this CD out back in 1987. I still listen to "Stop the Dominoes" on tape. Great song from a great Christian artist!

  • cool song!

  • This is cool I didn't know mark had some many fan. He was my dad's best friend

  • This is just too damn catchy--and oh so prophetic!

  • He was great! He's now writing songs for the angels! After all they need a master songwriter!!

  • This is an awesome video. I bought it in a compilation years ago. I miss Mark.

  • I agree...re-release the Tribal Opera album on CD, unless you can afford over $100 for a first release copy.

  • I love this album. No bad songs. It was such a radical departure from his previous stuff, it was hard to believe it was just him. Great post. Thanks...

  • OMG - Mark Heard as Ideola!!! Where did you get this video?? He was so totally ahead of his time - him, Terry Taylor/DA, Steve Taylor. And Gene Eugene... dang. Anybody remember Tonio K?

  • Oh, yeah! Romeo Unchained is still one of the best albums ever made! You are speaking my language!

  • Just like they said - great lyricist! I love his music and he will never be forgotten. Thanks for posting this!

  • I miss Mark. I would love to have the album where this song came from.

  • This guy was awesome. I'm sure glad that this video was made.

  • somebody re-release this on CD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Google "Mark Heard Musician Mentor Friend" for an even better page, IMO. As you will be able to tell, that's a guy who actually knew Mark a bit before he died. (And that page has been up for nearly 13 years.) If nothing else, the story on that page is worth the price of admission alone.

  • This was the same album as Hold Back Your Tears and Emotional Man, also great songs.

  • He actually released this as iDEoLA. He was before his time.

  • This song is AWESOME! PLEASE don't take this video off; Mark Heard is a genius! It's a real shame he died. Even though I'm only 15, I think that todays music-Christian or not, just isn't as good.

  • never heard this song before, thanks for posting

  • I have this album! Really miss Mark Heard. Still listen devotedly to his music.

  • Mark Heard's 'Is it any Wonder' video is just great. I particularly love Mark dancing, I call it 'The Mark Heard Stomp'!! Is it really 15 years ago that Mark died? I can't wait to meet Mark in that 'far better place' one day. God bless you Mark! Ian Rabjohns England

  • Thanks for posting!

  • My name is Mark Heard..wondering if related..my family is from the Macon,Ga area...oddly enough my fathers name was John..any help

  • He was from Macon, so you may be related. There are folks who know way more than I do about Mark who may be able to help you more. Google "Mark Heard lyric project" All his lyrics, some liner notes, interviews and the like, as well as some links to interesting stuff.

  • I can't hear the audio yet because I have no speakers on this'un... but thank you for posting these. :)>
