  • this plane beats the expendables plane any day

  • very good video :)

  • RIP

  • 2 year's ago today :)

  • What a shame about the loss of this rare piece of history. All my hopes of you guys tasking a run over my mother inlaws house is now for naught.

  • Great film, thank you for posting

  • The bomb crosshair is so unstable.

  • is there a air-conditioner in the aircraft?

  • @Thebadass58 no air conditioner. you can open a window however. above 10,000 feet the crew would wear oxygen masks.

  • @Thebadass58 Is not required cause on high altitudes air is so cold. Also heating is avaible but cabin is not pressurized, this is not B29 :)

  • I JUST saw a video on YouTube saying this very plane crashed in June 2011! It didn't specify what caused the accident, but there was fire and smoke shortly after take-off, and she crashed in a corn field in Illinois 5mi from the airfield.

All 7 aboard escaped, but the "Liberty Belle" herself was a total loss.

So sad to hear that. This would have been an awesome experience!

  • @EVAUnit4A A small onboard fire prompted an emergancy landing in a field. No one was hurt but the fire department couldn't reach the plane due to the field being too soft. They say thy have another B-17 undergoing restoration.

  • @Gandyware

These ol' war machines deserve all the respect and attention they can get these days. There is a definite grace and solidity to them even decades later. (This, of course, also applies to the men who flew them.)

  • where to get a flight in a B17

  • its hard ?

  • WOW what a beaut! My absolute favourite aircraft!

  • rip

  • Only two bounces! Nice!

  • Hey I didn't know they had Garmin 430's in those things back then :)

  • too bad "Liberty Belle" is no more

  • RIP miss belle you will be missed by all warbird enthusiasts

  • RIP "Belle".

  • ..she just crashed in chicago.....in a farmers field...

  • Simply outstanding video!!! It's crash landing and demise today is such a tragedy. I know the people that restored and operated her must be sick beyond words. Thank you for sharing this awesome video, this is one of the best I've seen of a B-17.

  • Cool

  • cool, i want to shoot down this b-17 with my me-163 b1

    lol

  • Man oh man, the sound of those radials all in sync is waaaaaay cool.

  • very nice footage! it must have been an awesome ride.

  • Wow, thanks a lot for posting this!

  • really great to feel what it was like to be one of those forts .

I would give anything to do it for real

  • so loud, feel sorry for them

  • @alih15 don't be. That sound is the sound of happiness.

  • @Ashitaka1110 are you kidding me? the sound is awesome, better than Mozart. its a musical symphony of radial engine power. LOVE THAT SOUND, and nothing will EVER replace it

  • Very cool video, thank you for sharing this.

  • very nice thanks for the ride.

  • This was very cool to see.

  • I always see these at the airshow and always wondered what it would be like to fly in one of them. That was an amazing HD video ! super awesome angles

Watch your six for Luft waffles !!

  • awesome...think of 200+ of these in formation!

    thank you for sharing

  • how did you get a ride in that

  • @ianczar0325

i did it myself, you have to pay for it. its $430 for 1/2 hour. one of the best 1/2 hours of my life!!! it doesnt bother me that it costs that much becuase its a very expensive aircraft to operate. its also a donation that helps keep this wonderful aircraft alive and well. its money well spent

  • @ad356

I'm shure it's money well spent. Did they ever say what the airspeed was durring the flight?

  • the people in the boat thought u were gonna bomb them lol

  • why they turn the propeller?

  • @nokia26300 The propellers are turned to 'stir' the oil in the engines. The oil settles.

  • My son and I went up in this plane last year. It was the ride of our life. DO IT IF YOU CAN...

  • AMAZING!

I saw a B-17 once driving to work. They buzzed us real low as we were coming up on an entrance ramp to the highway near an airport. I saw them in the rear view and gave them a thumbs up out the window and they flashed the wing lights at me. ( landing lights maybe?). The sight/sounds of that B-17 going maybe 300 feet over me are something I will never forget.
