  • i know back in the 50's 60's you could smoke on greyhound busses ,airplanes, amtrack, ect what i am saying in few words is everywere was your smoking area

  • i am sick of these non smokers bitching at us they are just bullying us becasue they can

  • @66gardener And you still feel the need to make comments?? Get a life

  • Society has finally cleansed itself of the indoor polutants produced by smokers.

Nearly every state now ban public indoor smoking. The hassle with inconsiderate smokers is now over.

For you smokers that have a problem with the new order of things.....a good time to quit your filthy habit, isn't it.

  • When smoking was still permitted on planes, when the no smoking light went out, we lit up. On a Southwest flight a group of non smokers chose to sit in the smoking section and raised hell about all us smokers. Plenty of seats available to them in the non smoking section at the front of the plane but they felt it their duty to be bitches. Flight crew moved them forward.

  • I can't believe the price of cigarettes today. I live in NY where they cost over $11.00. I remember paying 27 cents. They also had what we called "loosies" They were 2 cents each or 3 for a nickel. I had to give up smoking due to having a bi-pass operation. Hardest thing I ever had to do.

  • I am 23 and I have been smoking for 4 years now, I really want to quit . . . I mean REALLY want to, but it is hard, Yet the Winston is my fix, maybe soon by Gods will i shal stop . . .. before it is too late for me ( violin playing in the background )

  • OMG THEY ARE SMOKING!!!!!! BURN THEM AT THE STAKE!!!!! (SARCASM)

  • Boy, remember when there was freedom and you could smoke in diners, on aeroplanes and in railroad coaches. .....those were the days....

  • @IstvanN1961

Those were the days alright, when every smoking pig could blow their stinking, filthy habit into everyone elses airspace.Sure is nice to go to a restaurant and not smell the stench of tobacco, go to a ballgame and not have the pig next to you burn a hole in your sweater and be able to go home and not have the closet smell like stinking smoke......yah, those were the days alright.

  • @66gardener No one made you go to a restaurant and sit next to a "pig". Now pork is another one of lifes simple pleasures.

  • i should have been born in 37-38 so i could live through the 50's

  • Damn why didnt I grow up in these days where u actually get cigarettes with the meal on the airplane!!!

  • Those were the days~ when flying was for the passenger's comfort~ now you're just an annoying butt in a seat.........

  • I think that they should have smokers only flights, staff the aircraft with pilots and crew who also smoke. But even if you have all the smokers puffing away in their own sealed aluminum can at 30,000 feet the anti smoking fascists will still complain and demand it be banned. The sick part is that many of the same types that rail against tobacco want the taxpayers to fund safe injection sites and needle exchanges for heroine addicts up here.

  • @OlegKostoglatov I agree. And a no-children flight too!

  • Did she put her butt out in the tapioca?

  • people get so bent out of shape..its a commercial...I smoked for 30 years ...in fact smoking right now...ok, so its an electronic cigarette...but I think its amazing the gov't now wants to ban water based vapor cigarettes...could it be because a lot of people moved right from regular cigs to these..some w/nicotine added..some NO nicotine..guess its costing the gov too much with tabbaco taxes. Somebody has to be demonized now its sugar & fat.

  • People feel the way they do about cigarettes and smokers now because it's fashionable. And what's more fun in America than to hate a group of people and get approval for it! By the way, at 335mph, this plane took about ten hours to get across the country...........but they were much more comfortable and they treated you like royalty. Not so much anymore. Life is all about how you look at things and how much your thinking has been manipulated by others.

  • OMG, I don't konw which is more comical, the fact that they are braggin about a Viscount, a real failure of an airliner, or that they are serving Winstons onboard!!!

  • That's odd. I'm 47, smoked Camels for 35 years, and don't have a trace of lung disease. Are you sure you're not just genetically defective?

  • @bjobe1964 yeah, whens the last xray, blood and breathing test performed, 1985? lol denial is a deep river, hope you have your life vest on!!

  • The spokesman for Winston {:45} is none other than Art Fleming, who later served as host of the original "JEOPARDY!" (1964-'75).

  • @fromthesidelines I knew Fleming was the first to say "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should"--improper English, but as they later said "Do you want good grammar or good taste?"

  • Yep, people travel like prisoners in transit today. Being herded like cattle 15 years ago wasn't as bad as it is now!

I actually remember when air travel was really special and people got dressed up for the occasion! People that smoked had their own section. Even the airliners were sleeker and better looking than the ones today.

  • Well as a child I sat in the smoking section of a transcontinental flight, and it was disgusting. Two assholes on either side of me started lighting up before the plane even took off, I thought I was going to vomit. This was about 1985 or 1986, so I was 9 or 10. Looking back on it, the real assholes were the airlines for sitting a kid in the smoking section in the 1st place. I'm not dissing Winston, it's just that smoking sections on airplanes are great in theory, just not in practice!

  • It was a different world when I grew up in the '60's. We weren't being brainwashed to hate smokers or cigarette smoke. Thank God we didn't have the media-driven hysteria against so many things like we've had for the past 30 years. I don't know anybody who would have had the reaction you did if they got stuck in the smoking section.

I guess it's because my uncles were smokers. I never smoked and still don't but, my tolerance towards smokers reflects a very different time from yours.

  • Neither was I. My mother smoked Winstons (and still does!). But imagine sitting in the middle of three seats with taller adults on each side of you smoking and then you breathing in nothing but cigarette smoke in a sealed airplane - it was horrid. I smoke today actually, so I wasn't saying it to be intolerant, but it would have made anyone want to hurl! I wish they did have smoking sections on planes, but in practice, if my choice to smoke compromises someone else's comfort, then I lose.

  • Plus, even I don't want to smell like an ashtray when I get to my destination. As a smoker, I go to great lengths to ensure my hands and clothes never smell anything other than fresh. I don't like the smell, I am just addicted to nicotine. Even during the 80s when there were smoking sections in restaurants, my mother always went outside as a courtesy to others who don't wish to smell tobacco smoke as they eat. I'm the same way. I realize it's MY choice, not theirs.

  • Yeah,Burn the plane down to! LOL

  • Times sure have changed. Now you can't smoke on a plane and they don't serve meals anymore, but back then you got full meals with cigarettes!

  • I love Winston.

  • These cigs are the best

  • Yes Winstons are the best, I smoked them for 28 years and have the BEST COPD,GREAT, there are times I can barley make it across the Room, Thank You RJ Reynolds!. I remember all of the good times making my kids inhale these stinking things,Walking around smelling like an Ashtray, burning my clothes spending my money, Ohhh yes what memories!. Greatest things ever made and they only cost 5 or6.00 a pack how much more reasonable can you get lung Cancer?,Cheaper than Asbestos, ENJOY!!!:).
