  • who cares about the tech?,,it's the music that matters!

  • @cheechwizrd Why ask "who cares..." when apparently a lot of people care?

  • can't we get behind the tractor beam and punch a button YET???

  • Is this your station?! If this is nothing but great music and a turntable...well, sign me up! This is better than a burning fireplace video any day! You take requests?

Sound is terrific too. Thank you!

  • This song would have been a perfect duet song if Johnny Cash were alive.

  • I liked the part where he had to get behind the mule.

  • @MarkArandjus If you like this song you'll LOVE my sister's cover. YouTube search for: Hope Waits sings Get Behind the Mule (Tom Waits Cover)

  • fuck yeah! the reflection of the album in the hood looks fucking awesome!

  • Is it just me, or does this sound like an "Ode to Dr. John."???

  • yup "GET BEHIND THE MULE" sounds like a broken relationship

  • I like how you did the picture, Tom Waits looks like a shadow coming from the record player, cool!

  • This story is a narration told by a gravedigger (Tom Waits) about a woman (Molly) who murdered her man (Jimmy the Harp) with a pistol and a rope. The corpse was too heavy for her to carry so she drug it behind the mule to the woods, where two boys (Jack the Cutter and the pocked marked kid) helped her make a makeshift coffin and bury him. They caught up with Molly in Kentucky but brought her back to California (Atchison to Placerville). They strung her up on a stage in Weaverville.

  • I know they come a lookin' fo' me.

  • I like this vid. I especially like the simplicity.

  • he looks like ron pearlman's twin

  • pin your head to the wisdom post ~ pin your eye to the line ~ never let the weeds get higher than the garden ~ always keep the sapphire in your mind ~ always keep a diamond in your mind... you got to get behind the mule in the mornin and plow

  • Sry, 2boddah.

  • YES YES !!!!! thank you!!!

  • *** The one and only TOM WAITS. Hear what you've been missing!!! ***

  • Those guitars are so awesome. This album is astonishing...the sleeper..Low SIde of The Road....is a real classic...third cut, I believe. The effects on it are so good....Everyone pay more attention to the other songs on this.

Thanks for keeping the lid up on this.

  • The best video ever !

  • Sounds great! Plow that field...

  • I'm very envious! you have a turntable and some good Waits vinyls. The only Waits vinyl I own is Swordfishtrombones. The first album that got me into Tom was Rain Dogs, and I would give a arm and a leg just to get me a copy of it on a vinyl, and my own turntable. I use my grandparents turntable, and I would love my own so I can listen to my vinyls whenever I wanted. Damn, wish I had my own turntable, Blood Money and Rain Dogs as vinyl. I would be a happy child. Can't wait for Glitter and Doom!.

  • Damn, I really wish you had a turntable!

  • @sweeneytoddfan93 Have you tried looking on eBay? Here in the Netherlands I can get a copy for 8 euro (say 7 dollars).

  • good fukkin tune, thanks for keepin it real...

  • well ya got ta get behind the mule and stop mopin'

  • I've lost track of how many times I've watched this in the past week. I'm literally addicted to this song at this point.

  • Viynl-the only way to go.

  • this is a song that i listen to while practicing taiji. seems like a good image for the daily effort thing.

  • very good this song with the LP spinning.. with the reflect of the album cover in the background

    5stars :>

  • I'm diggin all the way to China

With a silver spoon - Tom Waits, has the best way with words, i've ever come across in my life, im 15, and god knows i've tried to imitate it, and not even touched him, and i can only admit that becuase as someone once said of him "he's not a musician, he's a musicologist" personally, i think he's god.

  • one of my favourite songs all time

  • This would be a cool photo!!

  • Do you have Rain Dogs? I'd watch the whole album. Or this one for that matter.

  • Such a great sound on this, its perfect viewing also-I love that bass. Tom is GOD as far as I am concerned! Saw him last year and he was incredible, well worth the money and the hassle of ID etc....

  • i was stirring my brandy with a nail boys.

  • it's an universal song..

  • they were selling the vinyl in his Dublin concert and i didnt get one...... shit!

  • I need to find this on vinyl somewhere...

  • Perfect video!

  • this song kicks so much ASS i listen to this song well over 30 times a day.

  • are you alright?

  • lol ya i just like the song sorrie

  • if you listen carefully you can hear the snares on the snare drum rattling. that's some pretty raw recording... sounds amazing.

  • That confirms what I thought it was, could have been the drummer used whisps, but its way cooler that it is the rattling.

  • God I gotta get me a new turntable, vinyl is where it's at!!!!!!!! Oh and Toms the man....lol

  • nice video

  • Great tune. Thanks for posting it.

  • It's great! I keep wondering, what kind of record player is this? It looks really fancy with those lights and the way the arm is attached.

  • It is a Technics SL-1200. Thanks for your comnments!

  • the best! i love this tune!

  • @spellerine Yes it's a Technics, which is a nice turntable, made by Panasonic, I believe. I have a technics, Direct Drive SL-J2 which is over 20 years old and uses a linear laser controlled tone arm. I hope it never goes down, 'cause it still works GREAT.

  • THis song, this album was the BIg Thing that showed me how Tom had really elevated his style , production, sound, etc. Tune after tune completely realized and all fitting into this classic record. Filipino Box Spring hog and eyeball kid were somewhat jarring against the the others, but now, especially after Real Gone, my ears have made the move. I will say that every once in a while either the bongos or other beats almost loses it's time. Almost late. Lowside of the Road is under appreciated.
