The main influx of Irish and Italians happened roughly during the same time frame in many American cities. The Irish/Italian parade concept would be understandable.
Because the descendants of Irish and Sicilian immigrants merged together since the late 19th century, both being Catholic. Irish and Sicilian are pretty evenly matched cultures. They're nothing like Germans or Northern Italians.
It can be both because Irish and Italian Americans have lived in the same neighborhoods, worked side by side, went to church together, etc. since the early 20th century.
They atually were a ton alike, they were both poor and needed a new life and lived in ghettoes of new york, most are great friends Pete your just a hater
