I think that they had a vision of swish and smooth dance music with guitars and ambient bits on top and it took a while to achieve that on the 7th Wave and Encantado albums. With Phoenix they seemed to have moved on to the next thing.

Personally I love the acidic experiments on Golden Section.

I love Steve (& Miquette) for being the wonderful people & fantastic beings they are. Steve not getting 'trapped' in the guitar hero thing is admirable. The fact is Steve is more than a guitar hero, he's a hero full stop!

My only hope is that Steve will move on from the 'duff duff' beat which is soooooo much more dated than Steve's own original sound (circa 'For To Next' And Not Or) or even the Motivation Radio/Green sound... now THAT was & still is progressive.

Frankly I'm hoping Steve & Miquette can melt the age barrier with their musical love vibrations for all of us, and not get trapped in this 80's duff duff Grand Ma & Pa on ecstasy trip. It's lovable but below their immense beauty & talent.
