Well done, Mr Bream. You are the Maestro of the latter 20th century. Not only are you a superb guitarist but, from the many interviews I have seen you give, you're also a bloody nice bloke. Enjoy your retirement! I raise a glass to your health and go back to my tremolo practice.
@miserlou57 I think it's some law of the universe; no matter how much something is loved there's always someone who will dislike it. Has to be true cause I totally agree with you.
Hundreds of people have played this, but ONLY this one has the right feeling. I always wondered, how? How come do others fail? They have good technique, speed,...How? I had a cd of Julian Bream, called "DEDICATION" i think that word is the answer to my question.
I just wanted you to know that you are my true guitar hero. I have been playing for 49 years, in several genres of pop and blues. You are the quitessential guitar Maestro who will live on in your music as the epitome of musical excellence. Thank you that you chose the guitar and lute, instead of the piano, to devote your musical talents! My life is enrichened with your music. Thank you so much Mr. Bream! You are an inspiration to me in the highlest order.
It is so hard to play this, I can't emphasize that enough. I can bring this piece up to speed to like 120 bpm, but you need to jump up to like 144 to sound like this. It sounds like he's playing 13 mandolins at once.
La destreza técnica y la ejecución impecable convierten a Bream en el mejor ejecutante de Los Recuerdos de la Alhambra, según mi opinión. Qué bueno es volver a escucharlo por este medio.
Julian the living towering GIANT of the CLASSICAL Guitar along with JOHN Williams, NARCISO Yepes, R.I.P. They all had influence modern young guitar Virtuosos of today... of course: ANDRES SEGOVIA started the FIRE!....
I have listened to JULIAN BREAM recordings starting in the MID-1970's, A TRUE MASTER of EXPRESSING MUSIC.
simply amazing... have not heard it played with such integration of clarity and emotion. you guys need to stop fussing about not seeing his hands all the time... this lesson is in your ear.
This is the piece that I heard when I was a young hs kid and fell in love with the Spanish guitar....As much as I now even build guitars. It is enough to hear a few measures and I get shivers down my spine and a tear in the corner of an eye. This music is pure magic same as the actual Alhambra is pure magic.
Bream has not got the best tremelo around but this does not stop him giving one of the all time finest renditions of this piece ever . Time and time again I keep coming back to this one. The melody floats and soars and you forget there is a technical feat going on( we all know how elusive tremelo is) It is simply magical beyond words and makes me think of how he himself was inspired to play when he heard Segovia playing this very piece. I would die to play it like this. Long live Bream .
Mramosribero- Thank you for your kind agreement- maybe if we start a storm of protest, a piece of footage from this exact moment will magically appear- it could happen if everyone demands it!
@ifuliki Ese edificio es un testamento a la gente española. La mezcla de los moros y los ibéricos eran uno que frezó una de las culturas más únicas de Europa. Arriba Granada! desde El pueblo de Los Angeles.
it would be nice if the camera people would just show Mr Bream just playing, and stop panning all over the damn castle. WE WANT TO SEE HIS HANDS! IT'S A LESSON GUY!
@raiphdude7 hey you, you've just said what everyone of us would like TO YELL ALOUD: KILL THIS CAMERA MAN!!! We want to see Bream playing not to look at those bloody walls!! This is music not photography!! Damnit man!
@mramosribeiro dudes, those bloody walls inspired this music and the music is supposed to evoke them and the story of the place. Bream's finger gymnastic and his blue suit are irrelevant. Would you not love this piece if it was very easy to play and uninteresting in the visual-technical dept?!
Reassuring to hear that even Bream finds difficulty evidencing the hammer ons with his little finger with sufficient forte. It is most difficult but you expect it from a master.
My very favorite piece of music-from my very favorite musician! I don't know where you are, babylac-but thank you for lighting up a dreary Melbourne winter sky!
heard this song and found the music of julian bream for the first time about six months ago on you tube,i cant play any instrument this song and the way he plays it is one of the most amazing things i have heard or seen .
God, this is such an incredibly beautiful song. This is best version of this I've heard. I like his Estudio Brillante, too. Tarrega is a wonderful composer. Thanks for sharing this. I really enjoy watching master musicians perform.
Julian Bream has the best version of most classical Spanish songs. Even better than Segovia in most cases. Listen to his Asturias by Albeniz also. Incredible!!
What a performance! No one does it even close to Bream - his tremolo is awesome, he's a bit slower than the others tempo-wise but it's stunning. Moved me to tears....
I have admired Juilian Bream , since i began my carreer as a guitarrist, what a wonderfull mussician , such beatifull sound !! Mr. Bream i'm sending you a tremolo I wrote, ( in video )called Angelita , I hope you like it.
yea its really great, sounds very beautiful. a lot of classical pieces change from major to minor, but this one starts in minor and then changes to mayor.
Magnánima interpretación del maestro! Parece que cada nota vibrara en su rostro, se percibe como si brotara hondamente en cada fibra de él... Hermosa melodía, nostalgia excelsa, e impecable ejecución.
