  • Is it me... or does Churchill more-closely resemble Truman? (No foolin! Picture him with Coke-bottle glasses!)

  • @dukes0916

Nah. Truman had a wider head. Almost spherical.

  • I'd love to watch them show the Homeguard injuries.. especially "getting knocked off a bike by a dog."

  • Jim is so adorable in this.

  • Dads Army

  • IF I TOLD YOU TO KILL ME<WOULD YOU...(home guard takes out pike and kills churchill)

  • lol 1:12 Its Dad's Army.

  • @FienStudios For sure!! They even have an episode about the ridiculous weapons they use!

  • That looked more like a halberd than a pike.

  • I love how people like in Hogan's Heroes puts on the same accent as everyone else pretending to be Churchill.

Speaking of Hogan's Heroes, if all Germans were like Klink, the war would be over in 2 days!

  • @JKConquerer Supposedly there is an un-aired 'final episope' where we find out Klink was actually a double agent working for the allies. & his routine incompetence was feigned to give Hogan's men a free-hand. Not sure if thats just an urban legend (as it doesn't fit into all the story lines) but its a cool twist!

  • its a wonder how all of those solders managed to fight in the war if they were so clumsy ;D

  • This makes me think of dads army so much =)

  • Wow, Mat's Durham accent is really special...hahaha!

  • 'WHAT ON EARHT ARE YOU DOING?! I'M A REAL NUN!'

i would have just told him to piss off

  • The Home Guard got better as the war went on, they even had academies and elite units as well. The pikes were there earlier but they weren't there for long. Incidentally about those injuries they should be compared with the ones in the regular army. they might have had similar injuries that were not battle related.

  • @schizoidboy My what a disaster it would be to use pikes in ww2.

  • Don't knock the kitchen knife as a lethal weaon.

  • It's a good thing the Germans DIDNT invade....

  • What this programme fails to tell us is that the Home Guard were mostly filled out with vetrens from previous wars. Many felt that they had been cheated to grow old while their brothers and friends had been killed in their youth. Historians had worked out that while the Home Guard was badly armed, they would have fought to the death to defend their towns and villiages since they did not have much more a a life to live anyway.

  • @JackPlatts Not to mention to young boys of 16! That is where name Dad's Army came from

  • "Ah! Oh, me finger!"

  • OH!!! ME FINGER!!!

  • AWESOME!i love horrible histories.

  • 4:23

  • was a great comedy series made about the home gauard during the eighties or seventies...dads army..was hilarious...great characters,,worth a watch..

  • It is a halbard, not a pike.

  • I's join the homeguard just to see this IRL

  • Who do ya think you are kiddin mr hitler? If you think were on the run.

  • What a high quality armed professionally trained 3 men army

  • You know what I just realized? Why didn't they just take guns off of dead soldiers and give them to the homeguard? :P

  • @AuburnAttack21 because they gave them 2 other soldiers :p

  • Well, obviously those guys weren't taken to the regular army for a reason. :D

  • durham ppl do nt have geordie accents bt if thts as near as they could gt it fair enough

  • Glad D day went well or Britain woulda been fuuuuucked

  • @DrinkToIreland LOL i know right xD

  • @DrinkToIreland Hahaha your cool dude

  • @Dracofangstudios aye thanks mate

  • @DrinkToIreland Hey im doing a show and im looking for voice actors for it the script is linked in my profile =3 lemme know what ya think and pm me for details

  • @Dracofangstudios i just saw this post man sorry if i am too late :( don't know why it wasn't in my inbox

  • @DrinkToIreland True in fact they wanted to get German support in order to get the Brits out of Northern Ireland and even did bombings on their behalf. Ireland while netural did not however support the IRA and went out of their way to block them.

  • @schizoidboy yeah The IRA tried to get the Nazi's in Ireland i believe, correct me if I am wrong :P

  • @DrinkToIreland I got my information from a show on Nazi collaborators - they were the first episode, chances were they would have handed Ireland over to the Nazis just to get the Brits. Ireland was neutral but their military was mobilized to anyone out, they even had a Home Guard set up for such an invasion.

  • @schizoidboy ah

  • it all makes sense now ;)

  • lol IF I TOLD YOU TO JUMP OFF A CLIFF, WOULD YOU... he's gone to jump off a cliff....

  • I like it how the inside of the church hall, looks identical to the church hall in Dads Army,

  • Love Matt and Jim's accents!!

  • This would make a new Horrible histories Dad's Army.

  • it gone down to the bone lol

  • DAMN, good thing they didnt fight in the war or were all the brits had to offer. germany wouldve won. those folks that were injured, were like the stooges or the keystone cops.

  • @MARVIA35 They would've been outmatched, yeah, but most of the Home Guard were veterans of the Great War. imagine if London had become another Stalingrad: Even armed with pikes, they wouldn't have been pushovers, and when supporting the regular army, they could've done some serious damage.

  • matts well fit

  • 1:38 what's the name of the rifle?

  • @MrThefreefly

It's a Blunderbuss, which is like an antique shotgun.

  • @MrThefreefly thats a blunderbuss

  • jim is churchill? awsome!!!!!!

  • Is that Richard Wilson as narrator?

  • Omg luckly the RAF did great cause if invaded UK would have been fucked.
