Thank you so much for keeping this sublime music alive after 6 centuries. This choral arrangement is so unexpected in its charm - and its performance location. The world needs more Dufay, anywhere, anytime.
In my opinion this may not to be the best version from a technical point of view but... But is enchanting; there is a plenty of human warmth, beauty and love. Amazing, what else?
I keep coming back to hear this again and again. Really, it is a charming rendition. And to think it is being performed in Thailand! Somtow, you have done something marvelous here! If you care to, please give us more information about the performers in your description.
This is surely one of the most magical compositions ever created. I wish the performance were of a higher standard, but I'm happy to be able to hear the music.
Maybe this interpretation is not the most perfect, but it is done with great love and great understanding. One can feel the soul of this peace of music listening to you.
Great job! This is a very difficult piece to read and to sing, but so beautiful when it comes together. I'm very glad to see music like this being performed and appreciated in Thailand!
The only suggestion I would make is to have your singers practice together in sectional rehearsals. They could focus on blending their voices together, trying to make their section sound as if they were singing with one voice to achieve the strength and certainty that Medieval music demands.
Is this a special choir adaptation, or was Dufay's song originally a motet? As far as I recall, it is usually sung by one voice. Good performance though.
There is word underlay for all three parts, but many people believe that at least one if not two parts should be played instrumentally with only a single part sung by one (or a few) voices. However with all music of this period it's conjectural and as the text is religious (though not in Latin) we decided to do it this way. The parts are isorhythmic (as in Dufay's motets).
Ya, thebigsky321, i agree with most of what u say here. The Renaissance polyphonists (and those from the Franco-Flemish School in my humble opinion) wrote some of the most beautiful music there is and I love it.
Really appreciate your comment. Have loved Dufay all my life yet spent my whole life putting on big romantic pieces. Now that I've started this mediaeval band I hope to do more and better performances of this incredible music.
Yes, there are some brilliant interpretations of renaissance, and medieval music. There is a whole TREASURY of sound, and some splendid groups such as the Clemencic Consort, Musica Reservata, Dufay Collective....etc...and ofcourse, David Munrow.....

I want the song sung by one counter tenor! It's one of the most beautiful things in the sublunar regions.

This is a lovely song. The only thing I found was that the song was a bit fast.
