There's a lot of people over here who would like nothing more than to see the monarchy abolished, the Queen removed as head of state and replaced with President Blair. They seem to think that people like Blair wouldn't take the opportunity to become head of state but let's be honest, a British presidency would only be used by former politicians as a PR device and a chance to enjoy the feeling of being on top again.

Yeah, I do alot of reading on the Royal Family, and it is common for "Ladies in Waiting" to be members of the peerage (the nobility). Originally ladies in waiting were mere companions of the Queen, but in modern times they maintain the wardrobe of the Queen, as was explained below. At any rate I get chills every time I see this. I can't even imagine what she must have felt.

"Ladies-in-Waiting" is the general term for the well-to-do female companions/assistants of the Queen...there's actually two classes: Ladies of the Bedchamber (who are peeresses) and Women of the Bedchamber (who aren't peeresses). Formerly, there were also the Maids of Honour (young women of debutante age)

1970 he became himself a peer ( as Baron of Brighton ). Unfortunately no coronation took place until 1989 or he would have been in the Abbey with his own coronet and robe. Now he is buried in the abbey.

I am saying that Prince Charles got divorced from Princess Diana so that means that he cant run for King anymore because it says in the Royal laws that whey they get divorced they that be king. The Prince of Wales' divorce doesn't effect his position in the order of sucession so he remains the heir apparent. His wife, the Duchess of Cornwall has been divorced before and therfore can't be the Queen Consort.
The lawful (i.e. recognized by UK law, and not being a Roman Catholic) wife of the King automatically becomes Queen Consort. The Church of England doesn't recognize divorce, so there may be a question of the Archbishop of York--or a substitute bishop of the CoE--refusing to crown Camilla, but as statute stands there is nothing to prevent Charles and Camilla becoming the next King Regnant and Queen Consort of the UK.

Also i cannot see how people still bow down and have their jaws dropped when they talk about the queen and her family. I mean they're all good, and the lads, william and (i forgot the other one) are gentlemen and stuff. But we do need a reality check, it's the 21st century, and it seems bizarre we go gaga over people with fancy hats and they're other palatial stuff which should be really in the hands of the brit people. Not to mention the kohinoor diamond, which we stole amongst other things.

My family used to and are staunch pro-royalist. I'm probably the only one arguing against. When we have a democratic institution in place, where economic and other policies are debated DEMOCRATICALLY, i think the whole royal thing is just a farce. Nobody dares to speak up against them in public (including myself). The royal family has just become a feeding house to the magz and papaz who are a dying industry. I despise us singing 'god save the queen' and always cringe cause im an atheist too.

@agcronaldo17 firstly, britain does have a democratic institution where economic policies are debated, its called Parliament. secondly, plenty of people speak out against them, Cherie Blair was a well known republican, and there are thousands of muslim fanatics in britain who call for the overthrow of the monarchy and the introduction of an islamic republic with sharia law. as an athiest you should be thrilled by that.

Yeah, I do alot of reading on the Royal Family, and it is common for "Ladies in Waiting" to be members of the peerage (the nobility). Originally ladies in waiting were mere companions of the Queen, but in modern times they maintain the wardrobe of the Queen, as was explained below. At any rate I get chills every time I see this. I can't even imagine what she must have felt.

"Ladies-in-Waiting" is the general term for the well-to-do female companions/assistants of the Queen...there's actually two classes: Ladies of the Bedchamber (who are peeresses) and Women of the Bedchamber (who aren't peeresses). After checking the official ceremonial account in the London Gazette, I'm pretty sure that's the Queen's Lord Chamberlain (the Earl of Scarbrough), as he's supposed to be stationed behind the Chair of State at this point in the ceremony.

I don't understand why everyone is always so down on Charles. He's perfectly fine and in fact he was very much before the times with his conservationist ideals, long before it became hip to be so. All the recent "hot stars" etc merely copy in what he laid out over 3 decades ago. as I recall even back then he was criticsized in the press for his "nature loving" ideals . They mocked him for being a tree hugger etc. He's a decent guy.

I admire him greatly for his brave, informed and often singular stance on issues about which he's been criticised and ridiculed: a sustainable planet, good architecture, human values. I don't sit in judgement, based solely on his life with dear Diana. Harry and William seem remarkably "human", as does Charles himself. I often wonder how he copes with the relentless hostility and I hope history will be a good deal more positive.

How does it concern me? I want to emigrate from my country, I'm not happy there. I dont think that nationality is something that the people can't change - I think that living somewhere, honestly doing your job and sometimes making something for community can make you equipollent citizen of this nation.

The Prince of Wales' divorce doesn't effect his position in the order of sucession so he remains the heir apparent. His wife, the Duchess of Cornwall has been divorced before and therfore can't be the Queen Consort.

The Church of England doesn't recognize divorce, so there may be a question of the Archbishop of York--or a substitute bishop of the CoE--refusing to crown Camilla, but as statute stands there is nothing to prevent Charles and Camilla becoming the next King Regnant and Queen Consort of the UK.

i really like prince william at first i was like what in the world is all the hype about but he really is like his mother, soo compassionate, kind, down to earth sweet loving . i wish him all the happiness him and kate.
