how do u use your player in OTP in NHL12 because i want to use my goalie and it wont let me , i just use the goaile tht the team has.... so how do u use it and because i wastch ur OTP and u use ur players!!!!
ill post a video soon about goaltending and a few tips that i figured might help you. The song will be a new song out by SOJA. Hope you guys look at it and follow :)
When an opponent is behind my net, I don't hug the post. Especially if the opponent team has all their players in my zone. I go near the post and go butterfly. I move around until my leg is touching the post.
Wrap-arounds and one-timers from a pass behind my net are easy to deal with this way.
Also, hugging the post whenever the puck is behind your net is not optimal. The thing is, The movement of your goalie when you command him to hug the post is so very fast. And would a member of the other team try forcing the net with a spin-around move you are almost guaranteed to realize that he is and make the save by hugging the post then. But the biggest reason why you shouldn´t hug the post is that your opponent will not shoot from there, he can only pass out to his team. So stay centered.
Actually, covering the short side like you do on the 2v1-2v2 situations is not in any way optimal. Would a player come from the left (your perspective) and have the option to 1. Shoot it either short or long side 2. Pass right to his teammate, you will be in worse shape to make the save than you can be, especially if he passes the puck. The optimal way to position yourself is close to the net and leaving some room to the left. If he shoots, or passes you are in great shape to make the save.
@31Hockeyman well you can't do it for online play unless its EA Sports Hockey League, then you go to My Pro>Goalie, then choose your gear, and select customize, then just choose your colors or select something else in order to choose an NHL or AHL teams gear
Damn it, my team keeps giving me beef about the amount of goals I let in and all of the goals I let in have be goals that you said are not my fault. >:-( Rage face!
Yes. Finally. I have waited for this video a long time. Thank you for taking your time to explain, edit, render, upload and all that fun stuff just for us.
A video I would like to see is 'In-depth stats explanation'. I know there is a help option next to all the stats in the game, but a video explaining everything would be really good.
I also found tapping the trigger to hug a post on a cross crease does help opposed to holding it down to hug the post completely (a smart skater will hold the puck and deke you out if you hug). By tapping the the trigger and letting go as you see the shot come or until you're square with the puck, ensures that your goalie will travel through the center of the crease to make the stop.
I believe this is more likely to make the save then a left stick movement. Left stick movements will be interrupted by and auto save animation the moment the puck is released. Hug the post trigger will override that give you a split second longer to get across. Or if you're holding it down sometimes you body will deflect it away.
I would, although, use a left stick movement on a slow pass or a high cross pass as there's more time to get over.
I think something you may have missed is being agressive. I find a lot, especially the difficult shots from the slot and blasts from the point, you're more likely to make a save or deflect the puck above or away from the net when you're at the top of your crease. If you're too deep in the net, it will just go around you or hit you and deflect in. Of course the downside of being at the top of the crease is getting backdoored on a rebound. But that's a D's fault for not cleaning up the trash.
Hey boys, check out my channel recorded with an HD PVR. I have one club commentary and one power foward build. next video coming out on friday! 2bc has really inspired me to start making videos so, start watching liking and commenting.
@duedrocket I'm top 10 goalie on Xbox.. Gt : foster x 29 I never use precision.. Just barely move the stick so your goalies not jumping all over the place. All I play is 6s and precision does not help at all.. Just relax and stay steady..
@Pricel31l Thanks brah haha, I have only played 80 games as a goalie with a 811 save percentage but I think I could be better eh, I guess I should try not using precision mode..
Question for Superbman haha. Do you use precision mode a lot? I use it 95% of the time im in net but I started to notice the goalie gets "stuck" when in precision mode but I have to use precision mode to slow me down or I am all over the place. What do you think about precision mode?
Don't make manual saves on breakaways or else you will get deked. However, if the puck is already in the air (such as a shot from the point), it isn't hard to do them. Makes me feel like I'm doing something other than holding the left trigger all day, and you're more likely to make a save on a high shot if you use a manual save to one direction rather than dropping to the butterfly. Yes, the CPU will make saves, but it will also miss saves.
Manual Goaltending I find always helps with cross creases, sure its possible to save it without manual goaltending but I found it easier and afterward you feel more awesome because you did it yourself :)
What do you do to stop one-timers? I only get scored on with one-timers, but since that little glitch where your goalie goes down automatically when someone makes a one-time pass happens, I can't stop them for my life. Any tips on how to fight past that stupid glitch?
Johnny, don't always stay butterfly though. A couple days ago the other team's goalie was staying butterfly the whole game and I noticed. So I told my teammates to shoot top shelf and we were getting goals easily. Sometimes going butterfly can hurt you. Try to stand up then as the puck is shot towards you then go down. And with cross creases stay up never stay down at the start, when you are down, it will slow your goalie down to get to the other side.
@ByATG I stayed butterfly from a blue line shot. The puck was low and hit my pads. But because the pads has a little 'ramp' at the bottom, my pads redirected the puck to the net.
This was late in the third. I was so close for my first shutout. Then this happened. I got so pissed.
@ByATG I find it best to stop a cross crease by beginning with the stand up and sliding across into the butterfly. You get the speed and the positioning.
I always have problems with hugging the post. Even if I'm holding to the left and I am on the left side of the net, sometimes it forces me to go to the right post...
would just like to thank you for this video, it's actually made me a better goalie on EASHL.
