This movie portrays violence as a no-no. Our guys are trying to avoid being eaten.  That means they're all about peace, I think. Two and two and all that. -Shane

But you're using violence to say no to violence. You have to be fairly sofisticated to grab that message. Most of the people attracted to this kind of project will be youngsters and some will take it more literally than others meaning they'll just tune in because of the gore. To me it serves no purpose.

To be honest, you can't have a good film without violence unless its a love story of some kind...i cant really think of many exceptions. As for IZM, it has the violence and death, but at the same time it's about a community coming together to survive, a clever love triangle and the world joining to try and bring down a threat. It's so much more than violence XD

Yeh, exactly that's the problem, somehow we are fasinated by violence, can you explain why? I can't. And it's the chicken or the egg situation. Do we buy into violence or does the production of violence develop our interest in it further? But there are different kind of violence.For example violence in James Bond movies is different to violence in Scream or something along htose lines (because it's not as disturbing and boring.

I can, it's because it's human instinct. If you look back at history it is built on a foundation of wars and battles. I'm not saying it's a good thing cos it's not, but it's what we do and we can't pretend that we don't in film because, where's the threat. Death scares everyone, so to not put it in a movie removes the threat.

Violence in the media has desensitised the human race towards violence and there is no denying that.

"We eat our dinner while watching the evening news hearing about deaths and more deaths, like eh so what? it happens everyday" It shouldn't be that way and films don't help.

I think there is an argument against that, the whole of history has been about violence, it is just being stressed in a different way. Children should not be allowed to see violence like that but as you get older, you would have to b pretty insane to see someone getting ripped open and think "oooh, i might go and try doing that to someone"

And the thing is it does happen every day, even without violence hundreds die every day. It's just life.
