This was in Harlem 126 street and St. Nicholas Avenue. I know this area very well. The catalyst for this is stuff like this where tehy get caught violating the law and also in cases where they have a pretty good hunch or instinct and just make up random shit so the guilty party can be incriminated even if there is no evidence to othewise incriminate them. It would be a hard sell to convince a jury that he is stalking.

Want something to change, then bug your governor to properly triple the police budget in New York because that's about how much they are underfunded.
Same thing with bad drivers, I lived in BC and the drivers were horrible there. Go one province over to Alberta, OMG the drivers are awesome here.

@DarkD11 , the police budgets in every city need to be slashed to next to nothing. The police is a thug, revenue extortion agency. No good cops exist. Initiation of force against another human should not be in anyone's job description. If one so chooses that job , then that person is sociopath and need mental help. Even the pansy liberals' fabled ''good cops'' don't exist. ''Good cops'' regularly enforce unconstitutional laws and statutes daily, thus committing crimes against the citizenry.

@bigbunce I would like to inform you that what you are saying is factually inaccurate, and the political philosophy you are espousing is not very effective (as shown in numerous historical examples). In a city like New York, where there are organized crime syndicates and gangs, a police force is entirely necessary for the protection of the people , you are also making offensive assumptions about the people who voluntarily place themselves in harm's way to protect others. There is always the need for survival, rembember NYC, is a business State, rent in New York for an small apartment is about 1000 month. rent in Iowa, for a whole house is 350.00 dollars a month. Furthermore NYC tax payers support basically half the United States.

@TheFifthCow there are organized crime syndicates because there are prohibition laws. No drug laws=no drug crimes. Get it? Laws that try to regulate personal choices combined with laws designed to disarm the populace create a police state. Your cops in New York will arrest you in your own front yard for merely documenting a traffic stop. Police state. A well armed populace can better protect itself than cops can. Cops can only respond once a crime is committed. They can't prevent it

@bigbunce New York City is, by no stretch of the imagination, a police state. The laws you are discussing are in place for very specific reasons. In a city as large and diverse as New York, if everyone walked around with a gun there would be large scale firefights every day, regardless of laws in place to protect the general populace from wide impacting and harmful practices like drug use. The logical middle ground between a fascist government and the one I just described is one with police.

They have the next to nothing police budget you want so badly. We have far too many conflicting opinions in congress and that's why we have bad laws.

@DarkD11 anarchy is a fear tactic. What I am talking about is liberty. The freedom to be secure in one's persons, papers, houses and effects from unlawful search and seizure. The freedom to peaceably assemble. The freedom to protect what is mine. The freedom to choose what I do with my own body. Freedom from taxation without representation. Yes, the world we live in today was forged a great deal by the police. By being the revenue generating enforcers for the ruling class.

@bigbunce If you have a problem with the laws then you should vote for a different party. As the other guy said, new york is the opposite of a police state and its a total shit hole. If you have a problem with NY then you clearly want a police state because the other choice is africa. The cops do have a budget that is slashed to nothing and look how shitty NY is... I like police states because they are actually safe, look at japan, incredibly low crime rate and guns are almost unheard of.
