I think the case here refers to ammunition that the Argentine had left in a compromising situation, and the British believed they had booby-trapped. They asked the Argentine to move their own ammo, believing they would not let one of their own men die - which of course they did. The unlucky man was then caught in the middle of an explosive fire, and shot out of mercy rather than let him burn to death. I don't think that's a war crime, just very sad.

The British Military is entrenched on those Islands. There is no South American country (or combination there of) with the sophisticated high tech weapons of the UK. I really do not understand where the discussion is here. Although the Islands were discovered by the French, they have always been British, as have the people who have settled them. The Islands never had a native population, the people there now are the only settlers that have ever been there. They want to remain British. Argentina is a fucked up third world shithole. I'd rather stay British in that position!

Its amazing that the argentinians would sue for alleged war crimes. There is plenty of evidence and testimony from the argentine soldiers about brutality from there own leaders. Staking out of soldiers in freezing conditions as punishment to name but one. This was a military dictatorship and treat its own citizens and soldiers like animals. They entered into this war to divert attention away from their incompetance. They lost.

A heroe is someone who risks his life to save other people's life, and they do it because they want to do that exactly, not because they receive and order, go to war. So these people are not heroes, let's put an end to this fantasy. These ex soldiers invaded and island with civilians, that's not what heroes do. What they did for Argentina? The Falklands were British before Argentina even existed as a nation-state. So what the hell does Argentina have to justify trying to force a clearly self-determined and pro-British people in the Falklands to become Argentinian? It's as undemocratic an argument as the regime which used such primitive populist claims to justify invading the islands.
