Everyone knows it's just going to keep advancing from now.. It's never going to go back to how it was or even close to how it was because that's how high peoples standards are of a good edit. The only way it would even get remotely close back to how it was is if a fairly descent sized group of well known editors started doing the more basic edits and people started to follow them, because that's how things change these days, one or maybe even a few people do something cool and everyone follows.

2009 is where it's at, none of that stupid over the top bullshit. Make it look nice, that's all you need to do, none of this stupid masking, constant waves, and distortion bullshit. It breaks the flow of the clip and makes it hard to tell exactly what's going on. Oh and enough of the whole "Target acquired" shot (you know when it stops and highlights all the enemys that are there) it's getting old.

I love 2008... That´s like the first Montages I ever saw and like I always wanted to do one!!! Now Montages are for most people only about money and the sick editing... They don´t care anymore that much about the gameplay :( You can have the best gameplay but if you recorded for example with a dazzle and it´s not good edited everyone will declare it imediately as bad :( That´s shit...
