    Yes obviously... Because Ford closed it down before making enough of them to satisfy the market, they have since gone up in price. I dont see how that 1 car redeems the entire US car industry. Especially since its virtually just a European car with an american engine.

    Pretty nice? Its possibly the worst quality car in the world for its price. Its Porsche money and for that you get squeeky plastic interior with the steering wheel out of a Chevvy Malibu and seats out of a mail order catalogue. US cars are cheaper because there is no money spent on buildquality, technology or styling. And quite frankly... Your dollar is worth half what it was when you was a teenager. So naturally importing stuff like oil and cars will be more expensive now days.

I think most unknowledgable people still confuse the C6 vettes interior with the C5s which in no way they come close, it's a major step forward. Chevy did a much better job on the C6 than they did on the last generation. Like i said i think fags complain about interiors, so i'm guessing the shoe fit you perfectly!

  • @Janusha These cars cost the same as a porsche 911s4 which does not even compare in perfermance of a regular 430hp vette, if I want the turbo s I need to spend an additional 100k. Now you tell me what makes sense. I just purchased a zr1 its my third vette, I took the time to test drive the 911 and came away wondering where the thrill was. Well for me the thrill was saving a hundred grand. Porsches are on every corner and they all look the same, the zr1 are few and far between.

    There are currently 23 different versions of the Porsche 911. Before you start on the equipment list. Like Porsches cars, their business model is infinitly more modern than a Corvette. You tested a 911. Well they range from entry level sportscars to track ready GT2 RS and 1200hp 9FF madness. Im not a Porsche fan myself but they are MUCH more modern cars. Even tho some Corvettes have learnt to take corners they are still cheaply made and compensate brute force for lack of sophistication.

  • @Janusha Yes we are discrediting your statement about it being the worst quality car of the money, I've had 2 z06's and now have a zr1 and not had any issues with either one of them, they look a darn site nicer than any 911 and have the performance and appeal that the 911 just doesnt have. 911's are boring, and cost a god damn fortune to own. If I had endless money I'd consider the turbo s, nothing else. I mean even that looks like your everyday run of the mill 911.

    Im no fan but there is no denying Porsches are infinitly more modern than the ageing Corvette. Porsche outsells Corvette in USA and sell 120 000 cars a year. Viper sold 2-300 a year and died. You should know you tax "imports" to protect domestic brands and add luxury tax on top of it to force them up in price.

  • Its not just supercars for the rich america DONT make. Its also GT cars, Sporty saloons, Sporty SUVs, hatchbacks, hothatches, traditional sportscars, superminis, track cars, and certainly no executives. Infact no cars at all aimed at the upper market. Leaving European cars to completely dominate. How you cant see this is a mystery to me.

    In a country where you can buy a 50 million dollar mansion, as soon as a car costs more than 100 000, its somehow wrong and "unamerican".

  • @Janusha Sure I paid dearly for this car and I can tell you that if you have never sat in a zr1 and pushed the go pedal, then you do not understand and will never understand that it isn't about the money, its about the rush you will have, like no porsche will ever give you, I've driven the new gtr and came away with mixed feelings just like the porsche. It just didn't give me that ear to ear grin like the zr1.

Its weird how the Corvette gets compared to all kinds of cars. Nissan, Porsche, things with half the enginesize and rear seats. Mercedes, Bentley, Ferrari, stuff with twice the quality. Because quire simply america offers nothing else that can be compared. This pathologic aversion towards anything foreign is what is really going on here.

I find it amazing how americans allow Europe to occupy the entire 100% of the upper market in america. From BMW and up there are no competitors. Infact you buy 40% of our supercars. Much like the enormous US motorcycle market is completely dominated by Ducati, Yamaha, Honda and so on while USA makes Harley. Patriotism on wheels with saddlebags.

  • @GenIIIV8SHO Thanks for the details on that. Magneride is an amazing technology, worth a read. Its funny how offended Ferrari fans get when you tell them GM makes the suspension for some models. I notice ZR1 fans like Ferrari, but Ferrari fans hate the ZR1. I think thats a sign that Chevy did a good job this time.

The build quality is fantastic. Look at a Ford GT if you want a american supercar. Have you ever sat in a Corvette cause if you had you would probably have a different opinion.

The Corvette is one of America's best achievements, and I think you're just upset because a ZR1 will beat Ferraris, and Lambos. The Corvette ZR1 that ran 7:26 was stock BTW. Another one of America's greatest of achievements was landing on the moon. Do you think that's a bunch of hype as well?

    Speed and power is a decission... Not an achievement. Its got a big engine and thats its only redeeming feature. Only through wild claims and patriotic hype does it ever become a supercar contender. In the same way that Nissan GTR and Porsches arent really supercars either. Speed is the easy bit. Racecars have done virtually the same speeds since the 60s. Whats changed is technology, buildquality and styling. Which is exactly where america has a hell of a lot of catching up to do.

    Lots of companys shop brakes from Brembo. And seats by Recaro in Germany. Its like claiming Ford Focus is equal to the SSC Aero because they use the same headlights.

  • @Janusha Like I said, Delphi (AC Delco) is a subsidiary of GM. They make the Magneride suspension for Ferrari. Its more than just "They both shop at the same address" Brembo and Recaro are not analogies because they are not controlled and funded by GM like Delphi is. Ferrari buys some of their major drivetrain and accessory components from GM through their subsidiary Delphi, not an independent company like you claim.

  • Its really funny that you need to dig that deep to somehow validify GM as a fully working quality brand. Im not nearly nerdy enough to research who supplies who with brakes but I can promise you there is no technology whatsoever being exchanged between GM and Ferrari. But.. If GM were to aquire said Brembo company should then Ferrari stop shopping there on principle? There is no international car war for supremacy. The Ferrrari brand alone is worth more than the combined american car industry.

  • I dont care about brakes. Ill happily discuss cars and what they can do. However details dont interest me one bit. Trying to put american engineering over Ferrari by picking at brakes cupholders or stainless wingnuts.. its just sad. Ok so the 100000 Zr1 Isnt as high quality as a Ferrari F430 but what is the extra 100000 for an F430 actually being spent on??? Other than an interior, the Ferrari is just a scam. Well.. 40% of all Ferraris, Lambos and such cars are sold in USA. so basically.. Americans buy european when they have the money.   • The ZR1 is 8th around the NurbRing now. But I think alot of people put too much emphasis on that Ring. Its 10 times longer than any race track, wind alone can add 20 seconds to your time. Its not an official benchmark. Ferrari forexample have their own track where they tailor their cars to suit their customers needs. They dont set it up to do well on the ring. The fastest Ferrari around the Ring now has beaten the ZR1 but its 8 years old. Ferrari and others built several quicker cars since then

  • Unfortunately most racing regulations require the use of coil springs so most road course vettes run coilovers. But the leaf springs are more capable and technologically advanced than most people, myself included, usually think. The truth is if you read up on them they have many benefits over coils and are even more expensive. Chevy uses them for the Corvette based on an engineering decision, not a accounting one, and that is to be respected, cause it works... very, very well.

  • Ex-Yugoslavia made one example of a small and cheap A to B hatch called the Yugo, which was pretty appalling in general, but it was never intended to be great in the first place. Outside of that, we don't design any cars.

    But trying to compare a relatively small and mediocre country, to that of the wealthiest(or ex) country in the world, is like trying to compare David and Goliath.

    What i was trying to say is, we should have seen a car of this caliber a lot sooner from the Americans.

  • they are not in the same category man...the GT-R is a AWD heavy sports car that although it has alot of traction for launches, its not anywhere near as powerful as the ZR1...the ZR1 is only RWD and it will tie it from 0-60mph and then just take off and leave it...in the motor trend video of the drag race between them, the 911 GT2 and the 599, the ZR1 destroyed the GT-R by over 8-10 car lengths...and it beats it around the track and in braking too...2 completely different class cars

  • be real man, yeah the v-spec is fast, but its only ally is the all wheel drive... its tunned different and maybe bigger injectors or whatever...heck i could do that to a ZR1...add cold air intake, exhaust, increase boost, tune it and switch out injectors and be pushing close to 800hp...v-spec is a tuned base model...for the same price or more than the ZR1...id take the chevy
