Just a note regarding the interpretation of the 2nd amendment: the wording of the actual document states that militia is the reason, but the second half of it states that it's the INDIVIDUAL's right to keep and bear arms that will not be infringed. This interpretation is also found in District of Columbia v Heller, the most recent case I know of on the subject.
Regardless of any influence of the NRA or similar, the case law is pretty solid, and even the pure wording of the amendment is clear.

Empathy really isn't always a good thing. For years when I was younger I always kinda just absorbed the emotions that people were feeling around me and then I felt them for myself and then acted on them. They are in a Jeffersonian sort of way. Social constructs grounded in religious perspective shouldn't take the same role in the confidence of electability as the coherence of the candidate on issues regarding monetary policy and the corruption of the controllers, thereof (i.e. Federal Reserve), but they do, unfortunately. It boils down to this: what's more important to you? A pro-choice candidate, or someone who, while admittedly batshit crazy, won't let the economy implode?
I'm a feminist (i.e. I believe that both sexes should have equal rights in society), yet I do in fact take issue with inequality regardless of whether it affects men or women! So yes, I do have a problem with all of the things that you mentioned. I'm afraid that you're making a generalization. I also acknowledge the fact that, in some ways (mainly biologically), men and women obviously differ, and that becoming one and the same would not only be largely impossible, it would also be problematic.

We attempt to separate personality and the logical points of an argument because frankly, we put false value behind points of personality that have no relation to the topic at hand (as is what ad hominem is referring to).
A good example would be if I were to set up a convincing argument as to why first term abortion should be allowed, but then you bring up that I was arrested for theft. That arrest should not be a valid point against the logic of my argument.

Empathy really isn't always a good thing. For years when I was younger I always kinda just absorbed the emotions that people were feeling around me and then I felt them for myself and then acted on them. What makes you 'you' is essentially buried by some other person's emotions at that point. Eventually I just said fuck it and forced myself out of it, but now for the most part I don't have any empathy for anyone at all. There should be a happy medium somewhere. :P

I'm not on either side of the debate about abortion, but I don't think it's accurate saying the pro-life people are without empathy, they are just more empathetic about the potential child. Again, I don't side with pro-life or pro-choice, but I just thought it was inaccurate to state they are void of empathy, they just have different values than you do so they direct their empathy to a different cause.

That's true. I did take women's studies hoping I would learn a lot about great women in history. But instead it was more of a "look how you've been oppressed all long" class. They are in a Jeffersonian sort of way. Social constructs grounded in religious perspective shouldn't take the same role in the confidence of electability as the coherence of the candidate on issues regarding monetary policy and the corruption of the controllers, thereof (i.e. Federal Reserve), but they do, unfortunately. It boils down to this: what's more important to you? A pro-choice candidate, or someone who, while admittedly batshit crazy, won't let the economy implode?

I'm a feminist (i.e. I believe that both sexes should have equal rights in society), yet I do in fact take issue with inequality regardless of whether it affects men or women! So yes, I do have a problem with all of the things that you mentioned. I'm afraid that you're making a generalization. I also acknowledge the fact that, in some ways (mainly biologically), men and women obviously differ, and that becoming one and the same would not only be largely impossible, it would also be problematic.

We attempt to separate personality and the logical points of an argument because frankly, we put false value behind points of personality that have no relation to the topic at hand (as is what ad hominem is referring to).
A good example would be if I were to set up a convincing argument as to why first term abortion should be allowed, but then you bring up that I was arrested for theft. That arrest should not be a valid point against the logic of my argument.
