Not only is it sad that this was LZ's last tour in the US, but Robert Plant's 5 yr-old son died on July 26, 1977 right after this concert and he had to rush home to England.
I was lucky to see them for 4 songs at the riot shortened concert in Tampa, FL on 6/3/77 for $10. I will never forget walking into the big Sombrero with a powerhitter in hand with a lit joint inside and the usher said "enjoy". Even for the short time they played, it was well worth it. What memories! There will never be another Led Zep!
@tjrrockandrollmaster Re: Pink Floyd: The classic line-up toured in 1980 for the Wall Tour in Los Angeles and Long Island, NY (five nights apiece). That is if you mean, Waters, Gilmour, Wright, and Mason. 1977 was *not* the last time here.
I was 13 and wished I could have gone to the Long Island one as it was only 2 hours away. :/
@Grendelmonster8u I mean a nationwide US Tour not counting The Wall as that was an untourable show so they did a series of shows in L.A. and New York.
maybe all time favorite song by the greatest band in the world. And this performance is killer, better than Knebworth. PS: wondering what reaction i should choose - this is both incredible and classic.
I saw them in 77 at the Summit in Houston and by far the greatest show I have ever seen. Lasted 3 1/2 hours. The most talented and greatest rock band ever
@gregosazo There are rumors that a video of that show exists. Several rock shows were filmed there during that period, and of course Zep had video screens at the time. I've been a Zep bootleg hound for more than 20 years. It's amazing how rumors that swirl for years somehow surface after DECADES...and even now, incredible soundboards are surfacing. The Houston soundboard is out now...but I really hope the video surfaces. Tell us more about the show if you can. Thanks
@mielazul It was a sad thing that the '77 U.S. tour was cut short. I was at this Seattle show and I have to say the show didn't sound as good as the soundboard recording. The Kingdome was at the time one of the worlds worst concert venues. The echo and feedback in the hard rockers was at times excrutiating even to the most wasted. That said, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything, for they did the best they could with what they had here.
I believe Peter Grant confiscated the soundboard audio and big-screen video recordings of most of their shows, and they only started coming out after his death.
@Snowdog276 Thanks for telling your story. I'm a Zep fanatic in general, but I'm fascinated by this tour especially, and I'm always interested in people's experiences.
@Snowdog276 I was there also, and we usually got the lyrics on about the 3rd reverb. It was awful for concerts. I liked the Coliseum a lot better, but Kingdome was the only place to hold 60,000+ people~!
Perhaps you lied to me...who knows. I love you...meet me on the river.

where is the bass coming from?
vtponcho 6 months ago
@vtponcho John Paul Jones used some sort of pedals as bass.
So played bass with his feet and guitar with his hands.

1977 was a great year for music:
-In the UK appeared the Punk music.
-Led Zeppelin rocked the US
-Queen recorded News Of The World (The beggining of the Rock Stadium Anthems).
-Aerosmith recorded Draw The Line.
And so on!
DefLeppardBarcelona 7 months ago
@DefLeppardBarcelona
Also, Pink Floyd rocked the US one final time with the classic lineup in support of Animals.
- Genesis did its last album with Steve Hackett called Wind and Wuthering and toured which came out on the off-shoot live album Seconds Out
- Rush had A Farewell to Kings
- The Eagles was #1 with the Hotel California album.
Truth be told, though I was just a year old in 1977, it was one Hell of a year for rock (until Disco shanghaied the scene at year's end).
