I am terribly saddened by her death. I am watching her videos and would love to do exactly that for our yard. I am already planning it. My sympathies go out to her family. I would have loved to have met her.
I was hoping my next writeup about Patty would be to offer a new video with her, but I have sad news. She died suddenly a few weeks ago (related to a heart condition). It is obviously a huge loss for her family and those who knew her (a large part of her town of Cloverdale). I add my condolences.
Patty left behind a real gift with her garden. Those in permaculture talk about this type of gardening as permanent agriculture. Patty has left a legacy here with trees that could outlive most of us.
how do you keep animals from harvesting from you? this is an awesome video!!! you've inspired me to make my own mini garden here in the city. i don't have a yard, but i do have a balcony :) Can't wait for the summer now.
Loooooooooooooooooooove it! I will do something like this with my next house. For sure. Oh! save your seeds people... save your seeds! They will be worth GOLD in 20 years.
gotta put mulch down after you plant to control water dissipating on you, and to control the weeds setting up amongst the food plants and trees. Good luck!
Pretty newspapers about 3 layers thick will help with the weed problem. Well news papers aren't pretty; but they are free and can be covered with grass clippings from your neighbors who are still pushing those obnoxious vibrating noise makers. I would get their leaves and all compost materials too. Guess where you can send all of your abundant harvest? You can't eat grass and you can't eat all those vegetables yourself. It's a nice cycle. Best wishes.
Im so sorry to hear that.

Note to other people who are going to do this...
It will take YEARS for the trees to grow together, so plant between them, don't let the space go to waste!
