Kalalau Trail Hike Cliff Section Mile 7 aka "The Sketchy Part"

Nice shot of the 7-mile stuff... but one minor correction. It's about 400 to 500 ft down to the ocean from here. The highest point of the trail (by the big rock next to the pig gate) is 800 ft. But falling from 500 ft will pretty much kill you as good as falling from 2000 ft. The part that freaked me out was just about 10 minutes beyond where you ended this video. A patch of red slick clay, after a good long rain, sloped down toward the rocks below. The only thing that saved me were the roots.

Thanks for the video. We just returned home after doing this hike (myself, my husband and 15 year old daughter), and I was way too scared to take pictures. Awesome hike, great adventure, and lived to tell about it!

Nice vid! I'm heading to Kauai in early June and am considering doing the trail. I'm 26 and athletic, but pretty much no hiking experience. Should I not attempt this trail? Also, how bad is it after you turn the corner where this video ends?
