Lets see the names from this side: A lot of nowadays christians got latin, olg greek or jewish names. just a tradition made by someone. During the so called "Bulgarian second Kingdom" (it was actually 6-th or 7-th) greek remain official language for the government issues, so most of the names of bulgarians. Kaloyani fought quite successfully against "greek-talking" Bizans. So? The same is with the names of "Alexander" and "Phillip". Just a "this summer fashion" and nothing more.

Yes, ok, names can be used as part of a tradition which doesn't necessarily mean any other type of heritage or history. However, in this case, Philippos and Alexander both used Greek names and identified themselves as Greeks at the same time. That makes, once again, your comment irrelevant. It's not an invalid argument, it simply has nothing to do with the name of Alexander, Philippos, Thessaloniki or this discussion in general for that matter. You present irrelevant and distracting information.

Anyhow, Socrates, from a fellow Thessalonikian, keep up the good work and keep fighting the good fight. Really nice background music too. I will accept Thessaloniki to be called Japanese long before I accept it being called skopjan or slavic, because the Japanese would have as much evidence to prove their hypothetical claim as the skopjans do, which means none whatsoever of course. At least "Aleksandros" and "Philippos" mean something in the Greek language. In skopjan "they are just names"...

I am very disappointed to see how few people are interested in this topic nowadays, while the skopjans keep promoting their made up crap endlessly :( Balkhara, if there was a point in all that you wrote or quoted, I failed to find one, at least one relevant to this video and discussion. I don't know if the city was originally Jewish, Egyptian or Martian. What I do know with some certainty is that it wasn't originally Slavic which keeps the skopjan claims about it just as ridiculous as ever.

Quite sure is that till 1922-1924 the greek inhibitants in Solun were fewer than Bulgarians. Also a lot of turks and jews lived there. Finally after the turkish saughter a lot of greeks were expulsed to greek/bulgarian lands, Solun became "greek" point...

1. Saint Paul wrote 2 letters to Thessalonikeis - not to any "solunians" or makedonsky
