  • so sad that some x marine jus stabbed 4 homeless people a few towns over in orange county.... he is no hero but heros never die

  • Why does anyone pay to be indoctrinated by liberal, global progressive, new world order views?

Our country is in the shape it is in, because of what the top universities and colleges preach...

As you re-evaluate your 401k's, Pensions and IRA's... and factor in the DEVALUATION of the greenback... it cost you much more than "just" your college tuition... it cost you loss of confidence in America - and it's Universities.

  • This is movie reminds me of my college years going to a small "university" in Northern Michigan. It wasn't ivy league(not even close) but it was an experience both good and bad(mostly good). I didn't stay in my field of study but I never once regretted the time spent there and occasionally wish I was young enough to relive it.

You kids have got to fight to make college more affordable. The costs these days are a joke. Don't do it for me, do it for you.

  • impressive

  • I knew there had to be a scene in this movie where the bum turns out to be closeted constitutionalist. Give me a freakin break

  • etiquette prolific right on point joe da man!!!

  • this is one of pesci's best performances

  • A great scene almost ruined by a "slow clap" at the end. Thanks for posting! :)

  • @paxpaul yeah the slow clap lol

  • i want to squish that professor in the movie!!! i HATE that professor...

  • I was in this movie...a graduate at the end...filmed at The University of Illinois.

  • @bfogs13 W ho gives a shit...

  • I love this bit...very moving.

  • More parking spaces would have been a more valid reason for invading Iraq than the one Bush gave. Sickening.

  • For everyone on here, Please enjoy the scene, and leave politics at the door.

  • This is a good clip, but don't takes its words as any kind of government gospel. The arrogance of the professor is mixed with some truth on the facts of government and the broken spirit of the man is mixed with some truths and untruths, depending on how you interpret his words.

Yes, the Constitution can and has been changed, but the bar is very high and the process is very clearly outlined. Unfortunately, some people in power today would change the Constitution through laws or courts.

  • Slow clap ftw!

  • I hate snobby know it alls like that professor. He got owned!

  • the constitution was chartered with the underlying theme that people weren't to be trusted. the electoral college elected the president and the state legislatures elected senators; each with the intention of preventing a "mobocracy". the genius of the constitution was that it gave a facade of majority rule when ultimately it was the newly independent elite classes that were to supplant the crown and self govern.

  • @jbond5150 True. And as for the question Vidal's character asks here: Yes and no, under the War Powers Resolution. The 90 days part is wrong, though. The WPR requires the Prez to notify Congress within 48 hours of doing so, and limits the action to 60 days. The other 30 are for withdrawal.

Although, Congress has the prerogative to pass a resolution to make him remove whatever forces he committed.

The constitutionality of all that is still very much a thorny issue, though.

  • @Entity79 - all completely true. The provision of the War Powers Act of 1973 that gives the President authorization to wage war for (effectively) 90 days may very well be unconstitutional from the separation of powers standpoint, though may be constitutional under the necessary and proper clause.

  • Obama you are going down, Wake up sheep, gov. get the hell out of my way.

  • If only our Government today realizes the facts that were said in this movie. Seems the Constitution means absolutely nothing in their eyes, and are as arrogant as the professor in this clip.

  • That professor got punk'd

  • watched this movie for the first time last night and it was wonderful...every part was perfect..perfectly put together...loved it...so much

  • Yea I noticed it on netflix's instant watch a few weeks ago so I watched it as I like brendon fraser as an actor. It turned into a rather auspicious movie, was glad I watched it.

  • Apparently he was a closeted constitutionalist

  • and a bum

  • fuck this movie

  • By setting forth such a poingant and using such rousing rhetoric to evoke it, this scene should have been a masterpiec. However, that clapping that is tacked on to the end detracts from its value. That is such a cliché motif of coming-of-age films.

  • this is a very good speech, and we need people in the government that work for the people and not for themselfs!! WE NEED TO STAND UP AND END GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION!! AND LIVE THE WAY OUR FOUR FATHERS WANTED US TO.

  • His Royal Highness Obama should be required to watch this as many times as it takes for him to get it.

  • ...just as much as His Royal Monkey George W. Bush wants to ban it.

  • Oh well, what a shock. Some 27 year old from Bermuda is defending Obama.

Look, you're so full of youthful hormones you can't really be held responsible for your emotions.

You think Obama is the greatest? That was Ali, actually. He didn't have to rely on an image, he earned it.

  • Speaking of youth, I see you're not quite old enough yet to resist a little online flaming.

Yes, Ali earned his image. Obama is still in the process of doing the same. Ali also had his own share of haters, except they didn't have an instant-access internet media available to rip him to shreds within 12 minutes of a public appearance.

The problem is, you think of yourself as a Simon Wilder, while in reality you're just another Pitkannan.

  • What. You thought I'd just go away? I'm here for the duration, baby.

First of all, Ali didn't earn an "image", he earned his achievements. I was there.

Second, Obama hasn't earned a damned thing. Process my ass.

Of course Ali had his haters, doesn't everyone in the spotlight?

If you are a socialist then your argument makes sense, if not, then you are simply uninformed.

Obama is a Chicago street thug who was used by The Democratic Party as a natural response to Bush. Selah.

  • You're just jealous with rage because I live in Bermuda and you don't. :p

  • Please. Don't talk like a man with a paper asshole.

I have lived in Morocco, France, Germany, Italy and The Marshall Islands.

I am currently living on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

    Bad guess.

  • Wow. You sure are one bitter old man, aren't you?

Too bad all that traveling didn't do anything for your king-sized mean streak.

  • Actually I'm not bitter at all.

Clearly you are running short of significant things to say.

I am the father of three sons.

You are worried, I understand that.

Relax, you will find your place.

  • THREE sons? No wonder you're so volatile. You're venting your private frustration on any young lad you come across on the web, like Homer Simpson trying to strangle anyone besides his own kid Bart.

Considering that youre petty enough to rummage through my own profile to find the scarcest information to use against me, I hardly think you're offering anything remotely "significant" yourself.

  • Said the mouse who roared.

  • That's actually a very flattering metaphor. Thank you. :D

  • Whatever makes you happy makes me happy; thus detente.

  • What democratic eloquence! haha

  • please travel to any country not saved by the US in WWI and WWII and see how well they treat their citizens and how virtuous their govt is. Most of the world governments are pure fraud, and most allow zero freedom of the press- Russia, middle east, south america, china...

  • Good point. Canadian politicians are full shit too

  • @caroline7c Sorry.. SAVED by the US in WWi-WWII? Are you serious? you did did feck all for years. We Great Britain held them off for a long time in both world wars and could've easily survive. The only reason you lot got involved was because of the Russians advancing as even then you lot had some bizzare phobia of a communist state

  • @shunos Not to mention the fact that the US actively tried to stay OUT of both wars. The main reason they think they "saved" us is simply because they had more troops than us. Because they're bigger. Well fucking done. If it wasn't for British signals intel, code breaking, commando raids, campaigns in N. Africa, Burma, the Middle East, the Low Countries, Norway, the Atlantic, the Med, the constant efforts of the RAF and the Royal Navy kicking ass, the war would've been over in 1940.

  • @shunos FDR loved stalin and do you rly think that the USA didnt help in WWI and WWII? lets see USA just fights Japan and stays out of Europe. scientists dont flee to the USA they stay in Europe and get killed. without the USA's help Russia and UK take too long to stop Germany from getting the bomb. hitler NUKES London. WE SAVED YOU!!!!!!!!

  • sir is this a qoute from somebody or from you? sir i idore what was you said. . .

  • Actually kinda made it up on the spot but it's probably been said already by millions just worded differently

  • Who the hell cares what people say, saying that a bum in a big college is unrealistic, it's still a good movie!

  • does anyone knows where to find this movie in the net..i'm dying to watch this...please..thnx

  • Obviously made before Bush Cheney was in office. And LOL at the slow clap.

  • had consent of your elected officials...

  • bravo!

  • The professor is played by Gore Vidal, actually one of the more progressive writers of the past thirty plus years.

  • I think he did that in the lecture hall.

  • This was a great film. It took me back to my own college experience that ended only a few years before the movie was released. I was reminded of the fun, the hard work, meeting the fools that any young fool tends to meet, the good times and the bad.

  • slow clap yah!

  • saw this 1st on vhs tape around '96.. great movie...one of the movies that made me cry & learn something about life ..taught me something really valueable..

  • real life no one claps.....

  • ...real life people are morons

  • Here it is in a nutshell, humanity is worth saving based upon a beautifully written document.

The Constitution of the United States of America.

Re-read it for the first time.

  • Strength and honor!

that is my sword and shield, oh my this has nothing to do with this huh?....or does it?

  • thank you so much for uploading deftrick. been searching for this movie on the web for the longest while.

  • I was gunna say the genius of the Constitution is that it institutionalizes conflicts ... but his answer was pretty good too

  • please explain...

  • commonground32 said:

"Obama and Cain should take notes. lol their bums"

    No Sir, the people should.

  • please explain.

  • OK. But it made me feel good. Does that count for anything? When I think of the '90s, this film is one of the things I think of.

  • A man becomes wise when he realizes how little he really knows.

  • amen.

  • Obama and Cain should take notes. lol their bums

  • you spelled McCain and their wrong, you should have taken notes in school dumbass

  • NO Sir, the people should.

  • NO Sir, the people should.

  • HARVARD IS ELITE

  • This was 1994! What happened in 2003? Pescis character could give a few lessons to some of todays so called "leaders" in government.

  • this was the only inspiring part of this movie, sadly enough

  • anyone got the link to Pesci's line: "winners forget they're in a race..."

  • where can i watch this movie?

  • I never would have thought With Honors would have fans on You Tube. Warner Bros rented My Corvair Greenbrier for the movie. Wow about16 years ago. Hey its for sale!

  • I could use a bum like him in some of my classes

  • One of the best movies I've ever seen! Thanks Deftrick for uploading this scene!

  • p.s.-the executive branch, via agencies, is able to push delegated legislation through agencies. congress is more than happy to hand its power over to the executive branch since the New Deal.

So, for all of you who think that the liberal agenda is what is good in America...look into the bathroom mirror to find the ASSHOLE who betrayed democracy.

  • Shut the fuck up you turd. I didn't know Phoenix Online was handing out Master's degrees now. You think a master's degree is the defining piece of paper that lets everyone know you're better than them? You're an idiot if you believe that. Maybe if we spent more time helping the homeless find work instead of surveying them on their alcoholic preferences there wouldn't be as much of a problem in this country.

  • that's cool man. enjoy your career as a wal-mart cashier.

  • Maybe you could also work on a new degree in humility. Also, I think you completely missed the point of the scene and the point of my posting it here. One other thing: if you think being homeless is easy or 'all their fault', why don't you try it for a week with no mommy and daddy to bail your ass out and see how you fare. I HATE arrogance.

  • uh oh...i think SOMEBODY does not like the fact that they were called out.

    touchy, touchy.

it's cool though. i'll have my career, but YOU? you have something MUCH more impressive! you can hate people on-line.

    "Impressive. MOST impressive."

  • @deftrick Homelessness sucks.

  • piece of advice my friend..

    little knowledge is dangerous

and dont equate credentials with knowledge

the first is just a piece of paper

    the other comes from experience

    and humility would necessarily follow

  • nice lines er u got these?

  • @chromesteel1 why dont you take your masters degree and wipe your ass with it. A degree is point less without experince and knowledge back it up. U seriously need to stop looking thru things from your eyes and start looking tru the eyes of humanity. You Jerk.

  • This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie and one of my favorite quotes of all times

  • I don't know if you guys have heard, but there is a big court case involving youtube and piracy laws being decided soon. There must be a 100 places where you can download this movie on the internet and i'm pretty sure I bought it at wal-mart for 5 bux. So give me a break, will ya'?!?

  • UPLOAD IT.PLZ PLZ PLZ Mistr

  • Heed to the call of the people and just post please!

  • Please upload the entire movie!

  • Thank you for uploading this. I love this movie and that speech was the greatest.

  • there's no copy of this film in the video stores here in our country. Please post the whole film if you can. thanks

  • can you post the whole movie. thanks

  • yes, please post the whole of it.. thanks..

  • RIGHT ON! I wish you would post the whole movie. There are a lot of people who could benefit from it.

Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Is With Us All,

    Cal-el

  • just watched this in english class! 8] i wanna download it and stick it in my ipod.

  • This is a great scene.. very proper for today's state.. Thanks for posting. Do you plan on posting the rest of the movie?? I'd love to see it. I appreciate this piece.

  • Great speech, great scene. I'm overlooking the cheesy slow clap at the end though.

  • glad you liked it...

  • thi is the best scene in the film please can you upload the whole movie i love this movie!!!

  • Yes, can you upload the whole film?

  • One of the most eloquently spoken speeches I have had the pleasure of listening to.

  • Every single Congressman and Senator all the way to Dickhead Bush himself should be locked into a vault a grilled the message Pesci states in this scene. It sure would to this country some good!

  • Joe Pesci is awesome!!!

  • Pesci is an excellently spoken actor in this film. He makes his points clear and eloquent regarding the founding fathers motives behind the constitution and how there is no fixed rule of law governing a nation.

But the best part was seeing the look on that assholes face!

  • My favorite scene out of one of my favorite movies. Joe Pesci is incredible.

  • I can't help but to comment on this video. I've been looking for clips of With Honors here, I'm very thankful you've uploaded one. This is one of the best films I've watched in my academic years. It enlightened me so much.

  • if only more people were aware of this movie.

All the characters are as deep and complex as the concepts of the story. Tis' truly a heart-warming tale. It also got me into walt whitman.

  • Never a wiser or more inspired scene in film regarding our government and the law of the land. If only our leaders would pledge to be the public servants they are elected to be rather than the power hungry royalty-like demeanor they portray demanding allegience, instead of earning it.

Thank you for sharing this video. It's one of my favorite scenes of all time recentering me on what our country could be if "great men" would risk being humble and preserve our liberties and sovereignty.

  • I'm glad you liked it. I hadn't watched this movie in a while (even though I own it) and thought this scene really spoke to the current state of affairs. If I thought it would do one damn bit of good, I would forward it to the White House. Alas...
