At this time, I'd been playing 6 years, we qualified, and I have a bass guitarist who wasn't taking this seriously, at this time I had dreams of being in a Internationally famous band, but anyway, we were up last, the third band really just had a great set. Since the bar was so high, I decided to end it with a solo we'd practiced, and I pulled 90% of it off, missed a few notes. Anyway, we won, no prize, but we played the first song at the bake sale, it was like 5pm, no one was even their yet..
The first part of that song, pretty much anyone can pickup with a little practice. I played that first 5 seconds over and over into the ground. However, had I STARTED, with formal lessons, learning Scales, Palm mutes, Double Stops, tableture. I would have quit after 3 days, meanwhile I was getting a feel for the guitar. Down where I live, there was a radio station called "The Buzz" and every year they had the Buzz Bake Sale. Also at the time there was a seperate thing called battle of the bands
But what does difficulty matter? Green Day made me pick up the guitar. I wanted a Stratocaster, I got a Yamaha Pacifica that looks like a strat, however, It sounds every bit as good as a MODERN Strat. First thing that hooked me was I got the guitar, the amp(Ironically, IT was a Fender, and the obligatory Distortion Pedal. I have a brother 12 years older than me, and he was no guitarist, he dabbled. He showed me how to play BJ's part for the first 5 seconds, cont.
Green Day had a HUGE influence on my Life. I was still a kid, I was at the point where I had gotten over the smarmy cartoon crap singalongs, but had not developed a taste for ANY music, Then I heard Basket Case for the first time, I wish I could say I was there for their first album, or even Kerplunk, unfortunately I was probably 2 when the first one came out, I think in Late 89. In the concert it made a sound, but, when you take a live performance, that's being recorded, tre hit the crash late, it would have stepped all over the beginning of the bass solo, Especially the type of percussion the crash cymbal makes, it would have ruined the bass solo for the recording equipment, because recording equipment isn't as forgiving as the human ear and Sh*t happens in live performances, believe me.

at 3:34 a girl tries getting on stage to do a stage dive, and Staff (The people who are nothing but shit) push her off, and ruin her fun. Billie reacts to that by pushing STAFF off the stage. Billie you are and always will, stand up for your fans, and be an asshole to whoever stands in your way :D
