actually you do have a recording system. The source recorder

Open the console and type Record Filename

then everything you do afterwards will be recorded and saved to a file with whatever name you chose .dem

to stop recording type Stop

to playback what you recorded type Playdemo Filename, or press shift+F2 and use the load button (note that window can do some funky stuf)

To record a video from your demo type

Startmovie Filename avi

(doesn't have to be the same file name as the demo file)

(note you want to be in windowed mode cos it opens an external box with your codec choices)

then play the demo (Playdemo Filename)

the demo will then play really slowly (this is normal), when its finished you will have, in your TF2 folder, an avi file of whatever you played in the demo.

If you want to end the recording before the end of the demo just type Endmovie whenever you like. The console will not appear in the recording but the shift + f2 window will.

I do that a lot when people leave a enemy teleporter around. I love taunt kills so I practice with them on occasion. Even in the middle of all the action.
