The focus for feel becomes much less vibrato and other related technical expressions.
Same with drums, when you play fast the feel isn't in the accents and the ghost notes, but more in the time signatures, patterns etc.
Even disregarding that listen to "A moment of clarity" or "Bite the Pain" by Death. Those intro's are full of feel, and that feel gets transferred to power throughout the song.

Part of it is that Sean Reinert doesn't aim to make his playing in songs as technical as he can, he just tries to improve the music as much as he can. He really is just trying to make the music as good as it can possibly be, not prove how skilled he is with a kit. And some part of that love for the music is transferred over to the listener when he plays. You'll see the same thing with many jazz musicians; they know what they're doing, and truly devote themselves to their roles.

Why on earth people use Ulrich as reference point? His most intricate work (And Justice & less in Death Magnetic) up to date, is well known that it took him ages to manage. Not to mention he was average in the early Metallica years. His strong point was songwriting with James and never his drumming skills. As far as drumming skills go, his name doesn't really fit in videos like this (at least not in the way of comparing...). I would prefer people arguing between Portnoy Jarzombek, Zonder, Colaluca, Leggio for example

Why on earth people use Ulrich as reference point? His most intricate work (And Justice & less in Death Magnetic) up to date, is well known that it took him ages to manage. Not to mention he was average in the early Metallica years. His strong point was songwriting with James and never his drumming skills. Why people who love Metallica (I do too) refer to his name in such videos is beyond me...

not very often the toms get mixed to to the same volume as the bass drum, and above everything else.
the guy is using probably the longest, thickest sticks i've seen.

Christy is fucking awesome, his work on the live recordings of death I have is a bit sloppy though.
It's still incredibly good but his timing is off at some times and his fills are a bit too fast.
Then again the sound of perseverance is one technical motherfucker.
