Prior to watching this video I would call these guys a bunch of Triple B's (baby back b!tche$) for not being able to handle an IPA.. I generally agree with all of their reviews with the exceptions of those reviewing an IPA, where they all seem to shudder as their oh so overly sensitive pallets take a beating. However, these fine gentleman have completely redeemed themselves in my book by rating 90 minute IPA their number 1 beer of 2010. Well done boys, your becoming men!
@MyBudweiser2001 I'm about to edit our 2011 Top 10 video and boy how are tastes have changed. This will be known as the year of the IPAs. I can't wait to release the video.
Agreed, the Trapist brews are the best. They're blessed, and produced without a rush or profit. I'm just offended that Chimay, Westvleteren, Westmalle, the 16 other beers produced by La Fin Du Monde co etc. aren't even considered. SHAME!
@johnbanks This is only out of the beers that we reviewed in 2010. There are a lot better stouts that we've had since this video was released. However, for someone that likes Irish Dry Stouts, this and Guinness are the quintessential examples of the style. I don't personally find it very interesting, but a lot of people do.
@DuploControlador11 Belgium has tons of great beers, but this list is only limited to what we reviewed in 2010. We had about 47 beers to choose from and only one or two of them were from Belgium.
@weewoozesty they make a Oatmeal Stout. in my opinion it is the perfect stout. it is sweet. but still strong. not too bitter because it was made with oatmeal and its got a low alcohol content. but there is another irish stout i like its called beamish. i found it better than guinness. in the count that it isnt as bitter. but it is rather sweet
@DuploControlador11 there are far more beers in the top 10 that aren't belgium (i.e. DIPAs, double stouts, imperial russians). that being said, these 10 beers are not even on the radar for most beer connoisseurs, save for DFH 90 which is a very decent DIPA, but very, very far from the best.
Nice, Spotted cow in 3rd. Honestly I can't quite say what would be my 2010 favorite. I can say though that(even though I'm fairly new to beer) my favorite so far is probably New Glarus' Cabin Fever. I've been jonesing for a beer though, been without it for a while now :(.
@swaminathans1981 We reviewed Guinness Foreign Extra in 2011, so it will be eligible for this year's Top 10 list. I'll have to look into the Shakespeare Stout. Haven't had that one before.
My favorite beer of 2010 by FAR was Westvleteren 12!! If anyone sees this beer at a store, BUY IT! These beers are incredibly rare and I actually had to buy mine online. They are easily recognized because they do not have any labels on the bottles, just pure glass with different colored caps.
@SmearTheQueer89 C-Bus in da house! Thanks for watching. Did you go to Columbus Beerfest? There is another beerfest around May 21st or something like that. We'll be there.
" What about San Diego?.... #$&% I'm new here and I enjoyed it! Please don't take me wrong, I was just kidding! I guess my sense of humor appeared to be
" Kamikaze - 0 ". Sorry buddy! Did I sound that serious? lol What I really meant is that you don't have to re-do anything, this is a good show except the host...
you know I'm just kidding? He is baaaaad..... I meant bad is good!
Keep in touch, most of my friends (Japanese) are beer and saki drinkers here in Okinawa.
Not Baaaad, Guys! By the way, are there any Asians in your neighbor? This is a scary thought that I and my buddy fly from Okinawa Japan to your Te r i t o r y... finding out this is " White Only " section!$#&? You don't have a white suite, do you? There is no true number one Beer without Asian judge, don't you think so? sooooou, you gotta re-do the whoooole thing! Hey, this is a good thing, whatever reason is, you can have another Beer.... again and again. .lol All My Best Wishes!
happy new year guys, and you have went very far with the BBA its a good show with good people!. and I'm hooked on trying that youngs double chocolate stout
I really trust BBA's opinion on beer and I will go out and try the beers I have not yet tried from this top ten list. Excellent selection guys, thanks.
well Portland and denver have a good local craft beer scene but I have to say Tampa is the mecca for all of the nations craft beers.we can find any beer from any where with our distributors at hand
@tampavav I live in Northern Virginia, and between DC, MD, and VA, we get a huge selection, if it's not in one state, simply drive accross a bridge to another. Plus Dogfish Head has two Ale Houses here.
You tell me how to send you some Cigar City to you legally and I will ship it with no prob. I know We here in Tampa have the best beer scene in the USA
@tampavav Most people shy away from sending us beer because we need a whole six pack to do a review. If you'd like to send us a sixer then I'd be happy to send you my address. I don't know anything about whether its legal or not, but people ship beer on a personal level all the time. Just search the phrase "beer mail" on Youtube to see tons of examples.
As to your other point, Portland and Denver might argue with you over who has the best beer scene.
@tampavav I was in San Diego for San Diego Beer Week, that's gotta be pretty hard to top. I'll be in Orlando in June for a wedding, is Cigar City sold there? Check Beer Advocate, people exchange beers all the time. I usually just pack them carefully and ship out using UPS or USPS.
I will now unsubscribe from your channel because there is no way you can pick Youngs over Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout ,but major fail to the beer of the year
there is no way that Ommegang (Abbey Ale) is not the Beer of the year it has been picked by every known beer publication in the World. Outside of that You Have not one Cigar City Brewery Beer on your list. MAJOR FAIL. CCB has got to be the biggest thing to happen to Craft beers in Years and all within Basically one year "2010"
@tampavav We'll miss you. I just want to point out though, that all those beers are great beers. However, we were only choosing from beers that we've had on our show. If we have those beers on the show this year (Ommegang is high on the list) then they will be eligible for our 2011 list of great beers.
@tampavav The BBA is shot in Columbus, OH, and they may not have access to all of the beers. For example Sah Tea was brought in specialy. Cigar City is in Florida and has not been seen in Columbus, Brooklyn Black is not available in Columbus. If you ship them to the BBA then they will make sure they do a review. Then after they don't like the beer you can unsubscribe.
DFH 90 minute is a good beer, but no way should it be #1. with the exception of spotted cow, I've tried every other beer on this list, and every single one i've had tastes better than 90 minute. I've never understood why DFH gets such high ratings; they consistently overhop, and it just doesn't taste all that special. what's the deal here?
@nypoet22 We just did a straight up vote where everyone created a top 10 list. We then gave 10 points for #1 and 9 points for #2, etc... When we added them up DFH90 had the most points. It was #1 on 3 of 8 lists and high enough on the other lists to propel it to number one. I think the way we did it, the points system rewards beers that have broad appeal. There were other beers I enjoyed more, but the highest average level of excitement definitely went to DFH90.
@sqhschief Hopefully we can inspire you to take a trip to Columbus for Elevator Brewing Company, Columbus Brewing Company and Barley's brewpub. Three great breweries within a mile of each other. I'll even let you buy me a beer!
@ChadzBeerReviews Everyone loved the 90. In fact, Joby & Scott put it as their top beer of the year. We are hoping to do 120 when it comes out. Other than that, we are done with Dogfish Head for a while! We take turns providing the beer and it was a perfect storm of too much from one brewery. Founder's Breakfast Stout is the next beer we are reviewing - along with 1554 from New Belgium. I'm thinking a Natural Light review might be in our future too.
I just watched your "Meet the Better Beer Authority" and it really gave me good insight as to where you guys are coming from and I think its a video everyone should watch before ripping on you guys ( like I did ) for the way you rate a beer.
@monkeycaveman Awesome. Thanks for watching. We shot that just so we could be as upfront as possible with where we are coming from. I think the show is getting better and we're just having a lot of fun tasting new brews and spreading the word of beer. I think we ended up with some pretty good beverages in our Top 10. It will be interesting to see what 2011 brings.
