But seriously, blacks were enslaved for a couple hundred years in this country. And after the Civil War, it still took almost 100 more years to bring about the Civil Rights act. Even after that, equality had to be achieved through force, like for the Little Rock Nine.
Considering how long the US was segregated, how long affirmative action has existed, and the existence of the Good old boy network, affirmative action doesn't seem that bad.
