He's got a great voice, but I really dislike when people try to jazz -up The Star Spangled Banner. The song then becomes about the singer instead of our country. It's a little obnoxious. This seems to be a fairly recent trend (last 20 years).

I'd say more people listen to rock than pop. I don't know. That may be why David Cook got more sales. And, he was the winner, so he would probably get more sales than Archie. But Archie did wonderful on his album - all the songs are amazing. Whereas, if you didn't really listen to rock, Cook's album is unappealing. So it really depends on what kind of genre you listen to. Nothing about who is better.

I reckon (and this is my opinion) the reason why DA sounds so amazing is the way he can use his voice to slide to each note. And it isn't just any slide that any average singer can do, he seems to be able to FEEL where the apropriate note should be.

This makes it feel like most of the song has 'climactic' parts throughout.

He never overuse's his trenelo either, which is another reason why I think he's top notch.

Its that natural sound he has that distinguishes him, and makes him exectional.

I am not familiar with how notes and all that is sung but if you are saying that the way he is able to render his song is unique then I have to agree wholeheartedly. The way I feel after he sings is just indiscribeable. It is so so beautiful to my ears and I just want to cry with the beauty of it all. Sorry, I do tend to go on.
