I was an elementary school school kid in the mid 80s whod never even seen a slasher flick before. I was watching it @ home @ night and was afraid one of those things was going to somehow come up from the sewers break into my house and come after me. I saw the original Night of the Living Dead around the same time and it had a similar effect on me, except the physical appearance of the CHUD creatures seems to be the embodiment of everyone's worst nightmares.

Completely ending persuit and allowing victim to behead him, which incidentally was made all the easier by offering a bigger target area through the neck elongation.
