@DAVEUK1234 ...I totally agree...I was so young when I "fell in love with it" that I didn't even know who James Bond was..lol...but loved the song anyway...haha
did north korea really attack south korea..........or was it SPECTRE........maybe SMERSH...,,,,,in this film (You Only live Twice) the americans thought they were being attacked by the russians and the russians thought that the americans were attacking them.......???
"Life seems tame"........until the unimaginable and several miracles happen.......then the expected and the totally-unexpected intertwine and mix.......and since the 1967 release of this cut, they've been the norm.......Never would I have predicted the last 43 years.......beyond my wildest dreams!!
@lensjockeyvideo: And love IS a stranger.....It beckoned me on, but happy to say, I didn't think of the danger on many counts, and there was plenty of it......and dreams did come true in spades!!
Once this song (theme) and performance by Nancy Sinatra enters your brain , it will stay with you forever. 43 years (the Vietnam Era) now and it is still as current as the day that it was released. Need more music and movies like this.
Music is for everyone, and its beauty, twice and more in this song, transcends political, geographical, and racial differences and boundaries......... make this dream come true!
1967........I just had a chill........the song is attached to the year and the events that occurred in it........working at Fenway......HS Graduation......the sea, the ships, the ladies, the money and the World Series in Boston.......and BC in Chestnut Hill......is that enough??
This film had ninjas, space ships and an bald evil man with a cat; when you're 7 it kinda makes it one of the best movies ever. (not that I'm 7 anymore)
great theme! director Lewis Gilbert's action direction is plodding and lame, but his obvious romance with the east is charming and contagious... kudos to composer John Barry as usual...

And the best Bond movie, i still remember watching this movie as a kid on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, 1:19 shoked me i think i never seen a woman dying in that kind of horrible way until this movie. I loved being a kid and enjoying James Bond and the Pink Panter movies
Apparently,Richard Todd,(Dam Busters),who recently died, was Ian Fleming's first choice to be James Bond, but due to scheduling conflict he had to turn it down.
Apparently,Ms.Sinatra was so nervous about recording this song, being physically ill on numerous occasions, the finished product was more or less cobbled together from bits and pieces of recordings she was able to complete.
But it doesn't show in the finished product, which is terrific.
it's a beautiful tune but cluttered production. the ideas are all good, but need to be measured out a little better. John Barry was a genius for certain.
Good video. Terrific music , along with Goldfinger probably the Bond themes. From a time when the Bond films were exceptional. After Roger Moore left they went downhill.
Sean connery should have played bond up to A view toa kill, he still looked fine in 1983's Never Say never again. But he was tired of playing Bond at least we got Diamonds are forever from him, Sorry George Lazenby

Sean Connery should have never played james bond. Roger Moore is a Bond actor. The producers of the Bond film series wanted him original for Dr. No but Moore turned it down because he was doing a television show at the time.
lol a most magnifcent discription of of a human that i have heard in a long time ( a fat bastard pie eating take that wannabe ) and i agree he did fuck it up.
Awesome.... Asian girls are the best (speaking as one who has a Korean girlfriend). This is also one of my favorite Bond films (second only to Goldfinger). And one can never say enough about Nancy Sinatra.... Maybe I'm crazy but I prefer her songs over her Dad's.

You Only Live Twice or so it seems,
One life for yourself and one for your dreams.
You drift through the years and life seems tame,
Till one dream appears and love is its name.
And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on,
Don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone.
This dream is for you, so pay the price.
Make one dream come true, you only live twice.

Moore did some great Bond movies especially in the begining but Sean Conery is the real essential of the Bond character.
