Your video does not SHOW what file to upload to. I placed it in public-html. And it does NOT work. And yes, I have the correct web address.

Nor does your vid SHOW HOW to place the meta tag in the head folder when using Thesis. In fact, my thesis editor specifically says: "WARNING: DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE."

Good video. but wordpress and google webmaster central have changed. They give you a simple code but neither site explains how to insert it. Wordpress says you have to add a meta tag but I've tried that in every variation imaginable. It just doesn't work. Can you update this video?

@MrMotihips Both the meta tag and file methods for verifying still work in Google Webmaster tools. They have added a new method though - if you have Google Analytics installed on your site, then you can use THAT to verify without having to add anything additional. I've added this to my blog post which is linked to in the description of this video...

@padgo98 Sometimes you have to give it a few minutes. You should also verify that it is in the head section of your website source code.

@eilval - there should not be any waiting period for the verification process. Can you view source on your web page and make sure the meta tag is showing up there?

@moonstruckize Are you using WordPress com? That may be the reason you can't edit your theme. This tutorial will only work with self-hosted WordPress blogs. Sorry!
